Stress today, has become a common feature at work places. Various factors contribute to such stress. Stress does not influence everyone in the same manner. Studies show that different types and different levels of stress occur with the people at work as there are differences in individuals. Some people react very fast to the slightest provocation while some stay untouched even for a major setback. Therefore, we can say that it is a person’s emotional response to the given situations. Among such strategies, ‘Emotional Intelligence’ is that strategy which comes to the rescue of those who are under stress and guides them to respond appropriately to different stressors.
This paper aims at identifying the relation between emotional intelligence and stress management and find out to what extent emotional intelligence helps in coping with the workplace stress and pressures.

The right way to destress quickly is through one’s own senses such as taste, touch, smell and sight. Though each person responds differently to any given sensory input, one should realize those things that are reducing the stress quickly.
One should not get disconnected with the internal emotional experience so that he/she can appropriately manage the emotions. Every moment of emotions influence one’s thoughts and actions. Therefore one has to pay continuous attention to the feelings inside and insert them into their own decision at work.
