Explain how multi agency teams work together to support speech, language and communication. When a problem is noticed by parents or teachers a child gets diagnosed based on his/her difficulties. Sometimes a diagnosis may not be possible, or necessary. Many children with milder SLCN (speech, language and communication needs) can be supported well in their school or nursery setting, or respond well to general support strategies, and they don’t need specific help. Children with SLCN have such a varied range of difficulties and support depends on what their particular type of difficulty is. Discussing child’s difficulties with other family members, friends or staff at child’s school and telling them about what they can do, what child struggles with and how they can help makes it easier for everyone to help the child.
