Nursing is a field in which one never stops learning because it is always evolving. As nurses, we must be able to quickly assess and adapt to the constantly changing environment. An important aspect of nursing is the delegation process. Delegation in nursing is defined as the change in evolving responsibilities and roles of licensed healthcare providers and assistive personnel (Reyes, 2016). The article “Nursing Delegation Guidelines for Nurses and Advanced Practical Nurses” from the Iowa Board of Nursing Newsletter, talks about the delegation process, the responsibilities of the delegator and the delegatee, and the rules or regulations of delegation. The delegation process requires reliable and effective communication and organizational support. According to the article, “The delegation process begins with decisions made at the administrative level of the organization and extends to the staff responsible for delegating, overseeing the process, and performing the responsibilities” (Reyes, 2016, p. 3). In simpler terms, a leader, or the delegator, and the delegatee all have specific responsibilities and roles.
