The definition of professionalism is the competence or skill expected of a professional. The key to quality and efficiency is professionalism. Accountability is the responsibility and actions of a professional. He or she is responsible for achieving the maximum potential for the profession. A professional with integrity has the fundamental morals to do what is right. Professionalism also means to excel in the designated profession by having the motivation to acquire new knowledge and share it with others. Professionalism means adhering to a particular standard of behavior, meeting the expectations of others in dealings with them. In the presence of professionalism, we feel safe, that what we share will be kept secret. That the person we are speaking with is always concerned about our well-being. The core of professionalism is responsibility and commitment. Every routine day we are challenged to bring our best to those we care for- those who demonstrate these values deserve the title of professional. I feel that if we did not have professionalism, and people that cared about their profession our society would be horrible.
