Technology is destroying the quality of human interaction. In the world we live in today people are always on their phone scrolling through social media or texting their buddies, completely ignoring what might be going on around them. People are so addicted to modern technology that they might have a meltdown if something goes wrong like not being able to connect to the internet or misplacing their device. The relationship between the technologies we use and the individual will continue to separate us from the society we live in as well as those around us.

These days people are addicted to their electronic devices which cause us to be separated from society. At the University of Kansas, the journalism school does a periodic “media fast,” in which the students aren't allowed to use their devices for twenty-four hours. In the Children’s Social Skills article by Katherine Bindley, Melissa Ortega said, “Clinically, I’m seeing it in the office. The high school kids who I do see will be checking their phones constantly. They’ll use it as an avoidance strategy. They’ll see if they got a text message in the two minutes they were talking to me.” I see this a lot in school and in other public places, I even do it sometimes, when I'm walking down the hall and someone is walking towards me I tend to pull out my phone and act like I am scrolling through social media or responding to a text just so I can avoid an awkward situation. Since technology has a grasp on people in society, a lot of times people aren't aware of what is going on around them. They would rather connect with people over the internet than interact face to face and it has come to a point where people are texting each other in the same room and or using their device to avoid social
