The childcare industry has variables including childcare by a family member, a traditional caregiver or a day care center. It depends on a family’s situation as to which one benefits them most. The two types of childcare to be discussed are the traditional caregiver and a day care center. Parents must decide whether they want a one-on-one or a group setting for the care of their children.
Parents are always questioning whether they would like to have any more children someday. One of the aspects parents think about in this decision is child care. Child care can be pricey and the quality of the child care is also something to think about as well. Parents want their child to grow up and become very successful in life. Choosing a daycare from infant on, is part of the process to becoming successful as they grow. For one to add on to the family they need to think about the quality of child care, the price of child care, and attention of care: how their child will be raised. High-quality child care should be provided at public expense to all working parents!
...ter, because in order to receive daycare help you must be working. A lot of times this still leaves the mother in a bind, due to the lack of hours she works and the lack of support she will receive. At times the mother has to choose a low quality daycare which only makes it worse on her children; they may not endure the proper amount of attention needed as well as nutrition.
It is important to visit different facilities to determine which facility is the best fit for your child. Having your child in an In-Home daycare facility may not be such a great idea either. After reading the article The Hell of American Day Care, many parents vowed not to let their kids go to In-Home facilities. Because the rules and regulations for In-home daycare workers aren’t strictly enforced.
A Day care center, in contrast; is typically a full day program-- up to 10 hours and accepts children from infancy to 12 years of age. They provide supervised activities for a child, but usually these activities are not academically focused. This is not to say that if a working parent has their child in daycare, they cannot also be enrolled in a preschool program.
Sending your child to day care is a tough decision to make. Parents most look into various ideas when picking a day care center. These are larger facilities that care for infants through school age children. They offer a variety of program options. Some childcare centers even provide transportation to and from school. Most have early learning programs.
There are about a million and one things to look into when parents are deciding if they will send their child to preschool. The history of preschool shows a lot of interesting information about how preschools have changed and how they affect students. It is said that preschool will give students a head start. There is also the price to think about when sending children off to preschool. But those are just a few of the many factors people may think about before sending their little one off to school. Some other things that are not usually brought up right up front are locations of preschools, the curriculum taught, the types of teachers, etc. People generally just think about the cost and the fact they have a place to send their child to learn while they work.
Going to school is very time consuming and so is having kids. Most people that have kids don’t finish college, if they started. It is a struggle to find people continuously to watch your child, especially if they are working as well. I have seen people bring their child to class if the teacher allows it. Parents have a hard time getting a babysitter. Being that Baton Rouge Community College is a community college most people cannot afford the daycare. A lot of classes you may need do not have an online course. Having a free daycare, open all day, on campus would be great. So many people would be at ease.
There are a few types of preschool programs. First there are structured preschool programs that focus on emphasizing an actual school setting and classroom activities in order to prepare the child for kindergarten or first grade. There are also day care centers, which are not as structured as preschool centers. Daycare’s focus mainly on child’s development through social interaction with children and caregivers. Then there are head start programs that are geared to give children a foot in the right direction in order to be ready for preschool or kindergarten. The right kind of childcare can be a wonderful opportunity to promote the profound learning children experience from birth through age five (Selecting child care, 2002).
It’s been noted that recent studies specify that “more than half of all 3-5-year-old children in the United States attend child-care centers prior to kindergarten” and “Given these high usage rates, the quality of these early child-care experiences has become an important public policy issue” (Peisner-Feinberg 2001). It is believed that part of the issue is a result of parents not knowing what the primary purpose of daycare/child care facilities are and what high quality daycares consist of in considering a their child should attend.
Introduction I have chosen to do my case-study at a childcare center in Framingham. This center is owned by Staples Headquarters and run by childcare company Bright Horizons. They currently have 196 children enrolled which includes the following programs of Infants, Toddlers, Preschool, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten.
Day-care is a place where children ranging from as little as one month, to any other age, are taken care of during the day. This could be due to the parents being too busy to take care of them during the same time, either due to work, school, or other time consuming obligations. Day-care therefore provides alternative care for little children, when their parents are away. This is widely criticized by a large number of people who believe that children should not be left under the care of strangers.
