According to government definition of child neglect is, ‘the importunate failure to meet a child’s basic physical or psychological needs, likely to result in the serious impairment of the child’s health or development. It may involve a parent or carer failing to provide adequate food, shelter or clothing, failing to protect a child from physical harm or danger, or the failure to ensure access to appropriate medical care or treatment. First and foremost, I would like to highlight about the effects on child’s health and physical development.

The neglected children are facing many health and physical problems such as impaired brain development, lack of antibiotics in body, skin infections and minor injuries.

There is a news on daily mail by Paul Donnelley(2014) reports that a mother is jailed for neglecting her 4-year old son in East Lancashire who was found ill in ‘appalling squalor’ at a house that filled with 14 dogs and 20 ferrets.
