I remember the exact moment when I decided that becoming a pediatric nurse might be what I wanted to do with my life. My family and I were down the shore for a family vacation, which we do every summer. One rainy night we decided to stay in the hotel and watch a movie as a family but it did not go as intended. All of a sudden my sister started to complain of agonising pains in her kidney so we rushed her to Atlantic City Medical Center where she was diagnosed with kidney stones at age 6. This hospital then transferred her to St.Peters Childrens Hospital where I met the most kind hearted nurse. This woman cared for my sister with so much love, not only as a nurse but as a person. Throughout the years as I've grown, I've noticed that I have a passion for children and a passion for their health. I believe I have the academic skills to be able to start my journey on becoming a pediatric nurse. In junior year of high school I took "Medical Office Technology" which was my favorite class I have ever taken in high school. It teached me medical terminology and informed me on types of medicine. This year as a senior I am taking "Child Development" and I am enjoying this course. This course teaches me about children and their development from the time they are born until they are 18 years old. I believe these two courses have taught me alot more about medicine and children. Other than academically I believe my personality traits would contribute to the medical school community. I am very patient and passionate with children. I am also a good listener and feel very comfortable around children as they are comfortable around me. My family and friends always say I have a gift with children. Their energy and happiness rubs off on me and makes me a better
