Study groups can help students to study and receive high grades, because college classes are definitely more difficult than high school classes. Students might have more freedom and time to finish the corresponding work, but at the same time professors expect more from students. Many professors would expect you to have all the time in the world to finish up your work. High school to College is a big milestone in student’s life, because they are required to learn to manage their own time; to find what the best schedule is for themselves. During the two week course, we’ve talked so much about the transitioning into college.
and most likely will happen. Reducing the psychological stressors, such as intimidation and peer pressure, helps to maintain a secure learning environment. Students entering college are often overwhelmed and muddled by so many choices. High school teachers must prepare their student’s for the possibility that not having a major in mind is completely normal for most college Freshman. Hart suggests focusing on your ‘specialization,’ by your gifts, attributes, and strengths (128).
From the beginning, these students wonder what their experience is going to be like and are they going to handle the demands from college. Students are becoming more stressful due to academic demands, social life, and work. First-year college students should receive more help from school to learn how to help themselves and become independent. In college students must learn how to manage their time, organize their schedule that meets their college and personal duties, how to be resourceful, and how to interact with people whom they never met. Before college, a variety of students already learned how to accomplish these skills, but only a few of these students are fully responsible for themselves before leaving their home.
I think it would be necessary for those college students to attend to classes regularly because there are going heavy load of class assignments, journal writing, and on going projects that have to be completed toward end of the semester. The most major problem is that many college students would think for themselves that having overall attendance would not find them to be such a big deal at all. Most times, parents may want to their son or daughter to attend classes anyway so that they have the determinations, future, and sense of satisfactions to success, pass, and finish school early. Another reason that students cannot miss class is because they have to participate actively in the class discussions about professor and the classmate have to say. Otherwise, students are going to miss the important points about the discussions.
Stress is a state of mind, emotional strain, or tension resulting from challenging or very demanding circumstances that may come with college academics. Stress is a mental battle that will come into a college kid’s life at one time or another, since overwhelming amounts of work and such little time pushing students to their limit to complete work in a timely manner. Many factors play a role in stress placed on college students but the most important part is finding ways to cope or get rid of stress. Meditation is a good form of stress reduction to help college students cope or get rid of any stress in their lives. If practiced often students will not only feel improved concentration but it also encourages a healthy lifestyle.
In the real world, if you don’t show up for work most of the time, you’re going to be fired. If students get into the habit of not showing up for class with no concrete consequences, what lesson does that teach? One of the most important lessons that students need to learn in college is self-discipline, and by requiring students to come to class, students are given strong incentives to become disciplined (or at least disciplined enough to come to class). A third argument in favor of mandatory attendance is that students generally do much better in class if they show up. In classes where class exercises and activities are a major part of the learning experience–like public speaking, or creative writing, or television production–low attendance may lead quickly to a failing grade.
In today’s society it is important to receive a college education to join the workforce. However, the transition from high school to college can be a very intimidating experience for many students. To make the college transition less frightening, students can take several precautions while still in high school. These precautions include participating in extracurricular activities, taking challenging courses, as well as developing good time management skills. Participation in extracurricular activities is important in succeeding in a college environment because it helps students to explore their interests and talents.
New relationships, or the lack of, can cause stress among students. This is only added onto the pile of other stress that college students are dealing with and must cope with in order to be successful. Nonis states that students should be given more help to lower their stress levels, possibly by the university personnel who might have better resources (Nonis). Like in high school, students should be encouraged to reach out to other people while experiencing all of this stress, instead of coping with it all on their own and eventually just crumbling at the deadline. Along with helpful study habits, advice from peers can be combined to make college a less stressful and more successful
Difficulties Attending College Today everyone thinks in order to succeed financially in life they need to have a college education, or at least most of the time this is true. I personally think that despite the many difficulties that a person is faced with they can overcome their troubles somehow, even though sometimes they can not help but think otherwise. I, myself have three different reasons why people find it difficult to stay in college. For one sometimes they still have to keep on working while going to school. Two, they have children.
A two- or four- year college degree is becoming more and more important to unlocking doors to economic and educational opportunity in America today. But in doin so you must first prep yourself during your junior years. When I started my cosmetology career I had to first make sure this is what I wanted to do, because this has alot to do with you attending classes needed and being responsible for what you are doing. It also could play a major... ... middle of paper ... ...bility builds client trust. Despite the fact that college is supposed to be a time when avenues for further study are explored and developed, students fear that if they are unable to find a field and succeed in their classes.
