One of the most significant issues for schools today is dress code. There has been a great amount of time spent on arguing about dress code. While, on the topic of dress code most schools have ventured onto the topic of school uniforms. Should schools have uniforms? In today’s society, clothes are the most prominent way of expressing themselves. While, students are in school they are still trying to find their identity, and the clothes they wear play an important role in that. Restricting students from wearing what they want is in a way preventing them from finding their identity. School is where different students with different personalities, different ideas and different cultures and different clothes all come together. One might even become friends with someone else just, because they were dressed a certain way. By requiring all students to wear the same clothes, schools are inhibiting students of diversity. Without diversity, all students are going to think of everyone else as being the same person they are. Preventing them from engaging with students from different backgrounds. Diversity makes us more tolerant of everyone around us. However, when people are all wearing the same clothes they start to be more narrow-minded. Furthermore, school is supposed to give students an education, also prepare them for the real world. Unfortunately, the real world doesn’t have uniforms, so when students graduate they are going to be incapable of tolerance. Others think, school uniforms should be a must because many students’ clothing styles are very offensive and vulgar. This is incorrect, because majority of the schools have dress codes, which enable clothing to be appropriate. There is no need for uniforms when dress codes are being implemented. The argument continues-they say the dress code rules are not followed. In reality they are actively followed. Also, there are consequences when students don’t abide by the rules.
