• Amazon, introduced by the name of Cadabra in 1994 was an online bookstore started by Jeff Bezo. It then became the largest online retailer on the planet from the changing of their name to amazon in 1995.
• Two factors which made amazon a globally accepted place to purchase goods online where right prediction of future shopping trends and focusing on customers. It helped amazon to take a distinctive edge and get ahead of its competitors.
• Amazon started selling everything ranging from music CDs, software, toys, tools, sporting goods and even groceries. The path with the longest total time is called the “critical path”, therefore the term CPM. It is the most important part of the diagram for the managers because it determines the completion date of the project.
c) PERT analysis- it’s a very useful technique for managers as they can get a great deal of information through analyzing network diagrams. Managers can identify which program must be taken place first and which can take place independently of one another. They can even attain information by investigating the paths other than the critical path. The difference between the length of critical path and the length of a given path is called as a slack. Understanding the slack helps the managers to allocate scarce resources and direct their efforts to control activities.
d) For the problems involving complex activities computers are used and they create and analyze the project networks. It shows he earliest start and finish time for each of the activities. These enables the managers certain advantages such as to organize and quantify the project information and providing them with graphic display of the project.
