As there is no leader who truly show all of the virtues, there are leaders who exemplify a singular virtue very well. The traits of a virtuous leader allow them to bring them and their county to success. There is such thing as too much virtue, the “Golden Mean” created by Aristotle, is the middle point between having too much of too little of one virtue. If you have too much of one virtue, it can be just as bad as having no virtue. A Virtuous leader exemplifies Courage, Wisdom and Selflessness on a daily basis which allows them to be Virtuous leaders. Courage is a necessity for being a virtuous leader. Wisdom is having knowledge and good judgment.Being a Wise leader also required the ability to think quickly and improvise. Wise leaders can use the knowledge they have to the fullest extent possible and can use it to safely lead their people. One of the many traits of a wise leader is the ability to outthink your opponent, not because you know more, but because you can do more with what you know. A great example of this is Alexander The Great. Alexander the great was born in July 356 B.C. and was the leader of the Macedonians. He was at the age of 20 when he became the king. After two years of patiently building an army moved his armies to Persia. He spent 2 years, securing the coastal region to prevent the interference of the Persian navy. Using his quick thinking and military logistical, he slowly wore down Persia. Another Virtuous leader who showed courage is Odysseus. Odysseus is an influential king in the book The Aeneid of Virgil. He displays his wisdom through the ability to see the bigger picture and choose which battles are worth fighting. He cares so much about them that he doesn't care about his emotions, and it works. A leader that can hide his emotions over something that deeply upsets them and still inspire his men is a selfless leader. Another leader who showed selflessness is Martin Luther. Martin Luther was a monk who feared god's judgement, he believed in justification by faith, not by the works of the church. He believed that the church selling salvation was not right, so he did something to stop it. He wrote the 95 Theses against the church, and when the church reprimanded him for going against them. He didn't care. He was excommunicated from the church, effectively sentencing himself to hell for his cause. He gave up his chances of heaven for the common people that he didn't even know. Those are the traits of a true Virtuous
