In past times when you would turn on your television set there was always a commercial on that promoted either a new brand of cigarettes or a brand of cigarettes that was already out before then. Even when I was just a little kid I remember seeing so many commercials on a brand of cigarettes called Camel. There were so many commercials back then that focused on cigarettes that even sometimes when there was a commercial on something different there was always one person or a few people either smoking or a particular brand was placed inside the commercial that help promote it which would also catch viewers’ attention. They never actually showed any kind of proof of what they were talking about, but in this commercial it sort of gave us a view on how things played out for a family who experienced everything that Truth is all about. But, when you compare this commercial to other anti-smoking commercials it gives us more of an actual understanding on what cigarettes can do. Instead of hiring actors to do their commercials they get actual people who have gone through terrible situations just because they began smoking. You would see people who had some of their body parts amputated, people who have Laryngectomy, and people who developed skin disorders just from smoking. There are even commercials where you have people physically removing their own teeth, skin, and sometimes their own body parts by hand just to buy a pack of cigarettes. Those kinds of commercials showed people that this is what you’re giving up by smoking on cigarettes, and even though Truth commercials did speak on the dangers of cigarettes it never actually showed any kind of proof behind of what they were saying up until …show more content…

The video itself was created by ‘Truth’, which is an organization where they inform people about what smoking can do to them, and on the video it stated that “22 million children are exposed to secondhand smoke every day,” which can cause children to develop asthma without them even having the symptoms that can possibly lead up to it. It was also stated that “Secondhand smoke exposure increases vulnerability to nicotine addiction”, and that was one of the few reasons as to why the little girl started smoking once she became older. The audience that they were trying to reach included everyone across the world, but it mainly focused on the actual smoker. It showed how it opened up a chain of events for one individual, and how it also brought unfortunate circumstances for another person. The demeanor behind it all was pretty much a sad one because everything was so dull, and washed out. The music that was used inside the commercial was very soft, and it reminded me of a piano playing during a sad scene in a movie. Even the setting was very simple because it showed the very same colors throughout the entire commercial, which were mainly primary shades, and everything seemed to be very empty. No one was happy at all when it came to cigarettes, and the message I gathered from it is that no matter where you are smoking affects not
