Nursing organizations can offer a lot of resources and opportunities no matter what stage you are in your nursing career. They foster a sense of community among nurses and can further your nursing career in many ways.

As a nurse, you recognize the value of belonging to a nursing organization. But there are so many to choose from and because of your personal budget crunch you just want to join a few that are most relevant for your needs.

School and State Nurses Association

In nursing school, you need to sign up for membership in your school's student nurses association. This will give you access to many resources to make nursing school a little easier than necessary and will give you the chance for socialization into your chosen profession. You can maximize the benefits you receive from your student nursing group if it is a constituent member of the state nurses association or the National Student Nurses Association. State nurses association allows you to seek out mentors and colleagues throughout your state.

National Student Nurses Association

The NSNA assists nursing students in developing not only nursing skills but also in cultivating their interest in joining professional nursing organizations after nursing school. As a member of the NSNA, you can avail of many benefits including student discounts on books and school supplies. You can also apply for scholarships and get special deals on NCLEX review courses.

This organization aims to help nursing students transition into professional nursing practice. It offers mentoring programs, leadership opportunities and the chance to connect to nurses who are already engaged in real-world practice.
