When you first think of the word “Computer” you most likely think of a laptop or desktop Computer, but there are many other different kinds of computers. For example, the smart phone in your pocket is a computer; your tablet on your desk is a computer. The possibilities are endless, but do you think our reliance on these electronics is getting a little out of hand? For example we can access our bank accounts just by opening an application on your smart phone. That’s crazy! We have the opportunity to store so much of our personal information on these devices which is definitely convenient, but is it a good idea? How does the computer affect us on a daily basis and does it benefit us or cause problems? There are definitely a lot of benefits to using a computer. I will be discussing one of the many benefits there are and it is the opportunity to hold lots of material in one place. I find this to be very helpful when I need to organize my information as well as my entertainment and music. For a computer to hold all your material it needs a lot of space. In laptop or desktop computers the amount of storage possibilities is much larger than compared to your smart phone. For example, I’m sure you are familiar with the 16 32 or 64GB options when you buy a new tablet or smart phone. That is nothing compared to the 3 or 4 TB (one TB equals 1024 GB) that the laptop and desktop computers have the opportunity to contain. Either way they give you opportunity to hold lots of material in one place. Having the portability of a smart phone or tablet is useful if you want to mobilize some of the content from your computer so you don’t have to lug your giant desktop around all day. For example, instead of bringing your laptop out for a jog, you can... ... middle of paper ... ... For example, if you are a gamer you will need a computer with a good processor and graphics card which will be very expensive in most cases. If you need a “Facebook Machine” you won’t need such advanced computer hardware to complete simple everyday tasks. It all depends on what kind of lifestyle you live. Computers have definitely made a difference in the world today. We use them to communicate, maintain, and entertain our everyday lives. It might be difficult for some people to imagine a world without them. It is evident that it helps us and it also has the capability to hurt us. We have seen the advantages and disadvantages that computers have to offer and you opinion on if our dependence is getting a little out of hand is solely up to you, but it is evident that as long as technology keeps advancing, the computer will be also as well as our dependence for them.
