What is Leadership? We all know someone who is confident and organized. Someone who helps themselves and others to do the right things. This is a very passionate and powerful person that creates something new. Leadership is about planning out where it is you need to be as a team or even as an organization. It is about being powerful, passionate, and inspiring. Leaders also have to use management skills to guide people so they can do the right thing. They do this in a nice and effective way. Leadership is about helping yourself and others to do the right things. What if you aren’t acting or doing something good, who would want to follow you or your decisions? There are many ways you can do the right thing. One thing is to smile or be friendly to a stranger. Sometimes a simple thing like that can make all the difference in the world to someone. It could make them feel good about their selves; who knows they might just do the same thing to another person. Another way you could help out is by simply being there for someone. When there is someone in need, it is always a good thing to just sit with them. Maybe you even help them through whatever they are There are a few skills that will help improve your leadership management skills. Having a positive mind-set helps you to stay focused and determined to lead an organization more effectively. If you have a negative mind-set than these goals will not be accomplished because you won’t have focused or determined. Having the adaptability to change helps you to improve within the team or organization. Without expecting feedback from people or even taking their criticism then you won’t except change. Another skill is being a very good communicator. If you are able to listen to people and understand what they are trying to say, then you are a good communicator. Before you can summarize the concepts related to leadership theory, you have to define what leadership is. Leadership is a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task or goals. The fundamental concept of leadership is indirection. In any organization, the leader indirectly impacts the performance of the organization through the performance of individual team members. To make that impact, the leader takes on the role of the coach, and the inspiratory. As the coach, the leader improves the performer's skills. As the inspiratory, the leader inspires the passion required for optimal performance. A good leader can make decisions with a clear mind and will listen to theirs but can run through every consequence and possibility in their head. They take every angle and come out with the best answer for the majority of the people or situations it effects. And will not let their emotions be shut off but will have feeling where it is needed.
Ways to enhance and develop my communication and social skills as leader are to be more self-aware, to know and understand different audiences and their communication needs, to be clear and specific in communication efforts, and interpret body language. To be self- aware is to recognize and understand one’s beliefs, values, strength and weaknesses. By knowing and understanding my areas of needed improvement, I am becoming more self-aware and I can progress in the areas of weaknesses. Self-aware also means being in tune with surrounding and being able to analyze and understand my part in different situations. Additionally, being able to adjust and adapt communication to different audiences helps to increase effective communication, as deliver multiple messages allow for more communication efforts.
The leader trusts his personnel and leaves it free to work by his own program. He supports his team and he is ready to help them at any time. The staff is satisfied because he has the control of the work and the productivity in most cases is high. The style requires from anyone, deep knowledge of the sector.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
What is leadership? Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to those that will follow. Those that follow will help to complete the mission. Leadership is a soft science, just as anthropology, sociology and psychology. It cannot be proven exactly what it is. Leadership is an art, the skillful application of leadership behaviors beyond techniques is much the same as the skillful application of brushstrokes by a master painter. Leadership is both rational and emotional. It involves both sides of human experience. It includes actions and influences based on reason and logic as well those based on inspiration and passion. Leadership is a social process shared among all members of a group. Leadership development comes through experience. We all learn from our different experiences. Whether positive or negative, they are our tools for growth and development.
Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example.
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
Leadership is often described as leading a group of people, however, leadership means much more than that. Leadership is encouraging others to go beyond what they can do and to help them achieve what they think to be impossible. ' Leadership is not magnetic personality, that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not "making friends and influencing people," that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations'; this quote by Peter Drucker sums up an opinion of leadership.
When considering the term management, there has always been a common miss conception that this automatically makes an individual a leader. Leadership is only a single element of the management role. Many times managers are more comfortable utilizing a particular leadership style. While this may work well the majority of the time, certain employees or situations may require a different approach. Good leadership requires that the individual recognize the need for change to motivate their employees to accomplish the task at hand or to reach common goals. Understanding the importance of leadership is essential. However, the key element to focus on is what steps can be taken to improve one’s leadership capabilities. For many individuals this may be a difficult question to answer and may only be possible through self-assessment and reflection.
Leadership can look different and at times may not be recognized at all. A leader may lead by holding power in position, but true leader empowers people through inspiration with a vision that does not promote self gain, but benefits all involved. As a leader you must know you strengths, limitations and able to reflect on a situation. Knowing when the work of a group is flowing or if change of direction is needed. Self-control of emotions to produce the enthusiasm needed to change the climate and culture of a group and calm yourself not showing anger; predictability.
Throughout my life I have encountered the chance to experience position of being a leader. Being part of groups in university for class presentations, being the organizing secretary of my campus fellowship, being a youth leader in my church and the church admin, also being part of a family. Leaders are charismatic, inspirational and trust worthy. I have gained some important qualities of being a good leader through these experiences. Most of the valuable leadership’s characteristics that I obtained and strengthened are: learn to become a better leader every day, how to be a team player, to be a better listener, to be an effective communicator, to have more patience, not afraid of constructive criticism, to be outspoken, and to be a problem solver. Even though I have gained a lot, I still have more things to learn to become a better leader such as being more assertive, being more disciplined, becoming a better public speaker, and learn how to be realistic and not too optimistic. You are a leader if someone else choses to follow you.

In order to be a good leader, one must have self-confidence, communication skills, charisma and integrity. These are the fundamental skills that make a good leader. Self-confidence is the attitude that one possesses in which one is not afraid to make decisions based on their ideas. Communication skills allow a leader to convey his or her ideas or thoughts carefully. Charisma is what makes a leader appealing to the public, and integrity is what allows the public to trust and have faith in the leader. Without these skills, a leader would just be mediocre, and not great.
