Before you can summarize the concepts related to leadership theory, you have to define what leadership is. Leadership is a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task or goals. The fundamental concept of leadership is indirection. In any organization, the leader indirectly impacts the performance of the organization through the performance of individual team members. To make that impact, the leader takes on the role of the coach, and the inspiratory. As the coach, the leader improves the performer's skills. As the inspiratory, the leader inspires the passion required for optimal performance. A good leader can make decisions with a clear mind and will listen to theirs but can run through every consequence and possibility in their head. They take every angle and come out with the best answer for the majority of the people or situations it effects. And will not let their emotions be shut off but will have feeling where it is needed. Your principles and beliefs will define your leadership for you. We can...
First of all, I would like to define leadership by quoting Chester I. Barnard: “Leadership is the quality of behavior of individuals whereby they guide people or their activities in organising efforts”. In my opinion this statement is absolutely true and explains the term in its best way. Therefore, it would be logical to state that leader is the person who is at the center of the power structure of the group, the one who keeps everyone in the group together, forms the goals and motivates people to achieve those goals. Leadership is a very influential chain of actions. Only leader is to shape and regulate, control and change various things inside the group like attitude, behavioral norms, and performance. Mostly, leaders
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
Leadership have different meaning for different people & has different meaning in different situation. But leadership comprises of both the research work & practical skills that are necessary to lead or guide other individuals, team or any organization. Leadership according to some successful leaders are:
To me, leadership is the ability to inspire the people around you in any situation and under any circumstances, to work or live for a common purpose, and to be able to handle anything that comes your way. The actual definition of leadership seems so unclear because of the many responsibilities one person has to hold and attain as part of being a leader. Leadership is essential to any group of people or organization. Some of the major characteristics of being a leader are: confidence in your self and others, able to keep calm under stress, dedication, pride, setting a Christian example, inspiring, strong willed, always honest, committed, able to communicate with others, and open minded. There are a lot of people who are smart and have good ideas but they can not lead. Having a good idea that is worth following is not enough. Someone might want to lead the world to think a certain way or another person might have ideas to make a failing ...
Leadership is the ability of a superior to influence the behaviour of subordinates and persuade them to follow a particular course of action (Barnard, 1938).It is the ultimate act which brings to success all of the potent potential that is in an organisation and its people and it transforms potential to reality (LEADERSHIP THEORIE...
Leadership is the procedure of influencing others to comprehend and concur about what should be done and how to do it, and the procedure of encouraging individual and aggregate endeavors to achieve shared targets/goals.
Chapter 12.3 discusses approaches to leadership. The leadership theory of Leader-Member Exchange suggests that “leaders adopt different behaviors with individual subordinates and that the particular behavior pattern of the leader develops over time and depends, to a large extent, on the quality of the leader-subordinate relationship” (Landy & Conte, 2013, p. 494). In essence, this leadership theory references how close the leader is with the staff member. Is there a feeling of trust? Is the staff member one that holds expertise in their role that the leader can rely on? Building a relationship with a staff member doesn’t happen instantly. The relationship grows over time which can result in staff members being a close confidante to the
What is leadership? Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to those that will follow. Those that follow will help to complete the mission. Leadership is a soft science, just as anthropology, sociology and psychology. It cannot be proven exactly what it is. Leadership is an art, the skillful application of leadership behaviors beyond techniques is much the same as the skillful application of brushstrokes by a master painter. Leadership is both rational and emotional. It involves both sides of human experience. It includes actions and influences based on reason and logic as well those based on inspiration and passion. Leadership is a social process shared among all members of a group. Leadership development comes through experience. We all learn from our different experiences. Whether positive or negative, they are our tools for growth and development.
Compare and contrast three leadership theories from chapter 1 (READ TEXT CAREFULLY). Which of the three would you choose to follow and why? I compared and contrasted Trait, Behavioral, and Situational Theories. Based on Trait Theories, a leader counts on having naturally given skills and charisma to lead. In contrary, Behavioral Leadership acquires its leadership skills through proper training. In the other hand, Situational Leadership focuses on “understanding of the situation and an appropriate response” (as cited in McCleskey, 2014, p. 118). The similarity in these three theories is that Trait, Behavioral, and Situational Leaders motivate their followers to achieve shared goals. I would follow a Situational Leader
According to Posner and Kouzes (2007), leadership is a major way in which help people change the minds of others and help organizations to accomplish identified goals. It is everyone all understand and know the meaning of the leadership.
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
According to Borkwoski (2016), leadership is a complex process by which a person sets direction, influences others to accomplish a mission, task, or objective, and directs an organization to make it more cohesive and coherent. Leadership can be hard to define because it has different meanings to different people. For example, in a transformational leadership model, leaders set direction and help themselves and others do the right thing to achieve (MindTools, 2015). This means they create an inspiring vision, and then motivate and inspire others to reach that vision (MindTools, 2016). In addition, they manage the delivery of the vision, directly or indirectly, and build their teams to make them stronger (MindTools, 2015).

According to Shockley and Zalabak (2009) "Leadership is a process of guiding individuals, groups, and entire organization in establishing goals and sustaining action to support goals.Leadership is like mapping out where you need to go to win". A Leader is a person who has a strong personality and who has an ability to manage people and work. He is also the person who is able to direct people .Usually a leaders has a lot of attributes that
Leadership is defined as the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group (Dictionary.com). A leader is assumed to be a know it all, be involved with decisions measured by the result he or she has achieved, can solve any problem. Many leaders may portray these characteristics, but not all. Personally, I believe that some of these characteristics are myths and would not help a leader succeed. Nobody wants a know it all leader. The best leaders are the ones who ask for suggestions and guidance from others. Someone who stands behind a leader does not stand by them because they are a know it all. They stand by them because they see the person representing them and responding to their needs. A leader is not always measured by their results. People back a
