Many families suffer from family and child abuse. The abuse can be physical, emotional, sexual, or even fall under neglecting. Neglect is a form ob abuse which contains a family member, usually a parent towards a child, not given them the significant proper care and attention they need. Physical, emotional, and sexual are however the most well known forms of abuse that live a permanent scar. “Every year nearly 1 percent of American women older than age 11 are assaulted, sexually assaulted, raped, or robbed by spouses, ex-spouses, boyfriends, ex-boyfriends, girlfriends, or ex-girlfriends.” (Brym) Physical abuse is physically harming someone in a contact way, such, as hitting, kicking, slapping, and punching. physical abuse is the second most common form of mistreating a child. Those suffering from physical abuse are at risk of health problems. These health problems could include, anxiety, depression, suicide , and traumatic stress. Emotional abuse, also known as psychological abuse or mental abuse includes non-physical behavior. Emotional abuse is often the cause of bullying and are several behaviors that qualify for it. Neglecting is not like physical abuse or sexual abuse, it is inadequate care in an ongoing pattern. Child neglect is being suffer more than any other form of abuse, yet is, the less to receive significant attention from society. Neglect is an act of omission and there are many forms of child neglect; education neglect and medical neglect being only two of many. Failure to meet a child’s basic needs puts them in harm.
