Many people take feeling full and having enough money to buy food for granted. In Walmart 's recent commercial, "Hunger Is Closer Than You Think," they start by showing two young girls riding a school bus. The first girl gets off the bus and opens her refrigerator up to a wide variety of foods, while the second girl opens her refrigerator up to nothing but some empty bottles. When the little brown haired girl opens up her fridge to barely any food, the viewer can see her mother in the background with a saddened face because she feels bad she cannot provide enough food for her family. As the commercial progresses, the girl who does not have to worry about having enough food explains that by shopping at Walmart her family is able to buy the food they need and also help others in need as well. In the end, the commercial comes full circle when the brown haired girls has enough food to eat all because of her friend 's family who bought food. Walmart successfully portrays their commercial by alerting viewers of the difference they can make to hungry people by shopping at their store. Walmart has recently paired with the Feeding America Foundation, and together they launched their new campaign, "Fight Hunger, Spark Change" ("Help us feed the fight against hunger."). Not only do people now want to shop at Walmart, but they want to make a difference as well. Hopefully after watching the commercial, people put into perspective how much is taken for granted. Between the music, small details, word choice, and message Walmart 's commercial applies to everyone. Their topic was successfully conveyed because of the emotion which sparked motivation. Walmart 's overall goal was to advertise for their store, but also to inform and raise awareness in order to fix our nations hunger. Because after all, "hunger is closer than you think"
