Recommended: Cause and effect of drinking alcohol

College is said to be the “best four years of your life,” where you will meet new people, learn an intense amount of knowledge, and grow and mature as a person. A very large amount of students in college do attend parties that can sometimes include alcohol and/or drugs. Alcohol is a mood altering substance that affects the nerves that pass messages through the body by slowing them down. The more an individual consumes alcohol, the greater this effect will be. This substance affects different parts of the brain responsible for self-control, which is why people become more exciting and lively when they have been drinking. Unfortunately, this lack of self-control has led to an increasing number of sexual violence when partying in college. Many research studies have been done in order to show the very large connection between sexual violence and partying behavior.
