C.S Lewis once said, “It’s not the load that breaks you down. It’s the way you carry it.” In our life, we carry numerous things that we never imagined would weigh so much, or that we would even carry in the first place. We carry some of the things because of necessities, whereas, we just carry others because they have an intrinsic value for us. Out of which the ring I carry with me on my finger is a must which was gifted to me by my mom. Apart from that I carry my thoughts, and most importantly, I carry with me the memories of the past 19 years of my life. My thoughts about life and about anything and everything. My thoughts define me. Sometimes my thoughts are completely logical, and sometimes they are just abstract. My mind is filled with positive and negative thoughts, some weighing heavier than the others, and some just exist without any meaning. Many a times, when I am sitting idle, my mind is flooded with a million thoughts, thoughts that most of the time don’t even make sense. I think about my future trying to judge what might happen, and the plans that I have to make in order to be successful in life. Reflecting on the past and contemplating about the present situations, I analyze my problems and try to figure out solutions to them. That is probably just me overthinking about the things in my life. The things that might not even matter after a day or a month, but trying to control my thoughts is one of the hardest things for me to do. I carry most of these memories from the past 19 years. The memory of the fact that I was a diplomat baby was maybe one of my earliest ones. I moved about every 3 years to a new country. I carry with me the smiles and the tears of the moments spent with my family and friends. The memories of seven different houses. My family made each house a home. The memory of moving to a new country, meeting new people, building friendships for a lifetime, and then leaving them to move to a new place. I carry the memories of the times spent with my friends, and the tears they shed when I left. The feeling I had while leaving the place that just started feeling like home, and the thought that the next place wouldn’t be as good as this one. I carry with me the memories of the experiences I had gained and the lessons I have learnt. These experiences and lessons help me cope with situations depending on the different cultures and religions. It does not take time for me to adapt to the situation in every new country.
