There are many factors concealed carry is good for Illinois. Too many innocent people are getting robbed; People should be allowed to defend their self from any danger. Before the law was passed, a person was only allowed to carry in their home. Even if a person legally owned a firearm, if they were caught outside of their home carrying a firearm they could face jail time. Locking a firearm in a case, unloaded, taken apart, and placing the case in the trunk of a car was the only way a person was allowed to transport a firearm.
Not everyone can obtain a concealed carry license, it is not as easy as people think. The State of Illinois doesn't just hand them out like candy. First a person must posses a F.O.I.D. card. A person is disqualified from getting one if they have a felony conviction; ever been convicted of domestic battery, or domestic violence; or if a person is subject to an Order of Protection. If a person does have a F.O.I.D. card they must now take a 16 hour firearm training class and pass the test. I think people should have at least 40 hours of firearm training.
If a robber knows a person is carrying a gun, would a robber would try the rob that person? Before a thief wants to strip someone of their valuables they have to think twice. No one knows who can be carrying a firearm now; grandma going to the store; mom or dad going to work; brother going to the game. I believe less armed robberies will take place now.

In conclusion I hope I could reach out to more people who are against firearms. Maybe more people would change their mind if the problems get closer to their home. With all the violence going on in Chicago some even on the block I live on. We need to be able to protect our selfs. I will not run and hide or move away because the gun violence. Guns don't hurt people, as pencils don't make mistakes, it takes a person to make the move. I have convinced my girlfriend that concealed carry is not only good for Illinois, but great for our family. Now I hope I could change other peoples minds or at least loosen their hatred towards guns.
During the problem definition stage, one must realize that “a condition is not a social problem unless it is seen as violating certain fundamental values and beliefs about how society should operate” (Gusfield, 2011). I have determined that there exists a problem concerning gun control, more specifically, concealed carry laws, as they are inconsistent throughout the states. While 48 states now have some form of concealed carry policy in place, the Illinois does not. Thus, the citizens’ rights are in violation of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
In fact, five states, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, and South Carolina think that is better to keep conceal carry over open carry. Concealed carry is different then that of open carry. Both laws let a person carry a handgun out in public around other people, but with concealed carry the user must hide the handgun underneath some form of clothing making it invisible to others. It could be placed in a multiple of places underneath a coat, vest, at the lower back, hip, leg, or on one side of the rib cage. Open carry only lets you carry the firearm on the side of your hip. Also, each person must get a license or permit showing the proper use of the firearm and pass a background check. Should guns be carried around by everyone? Maybe they should. I am not sure if I am with legalizing guns, but if I look at the situation in Chicago, it might be different. Chicago especially the west side is very dangerous and to be around that neighborhood has its risks. If you do need a gun to defend yourself, it’s less likely for you to get threatened. Not saying that you should kill people because you shouldn’t harm anyone, but to make sure that you are safe. Sometimes all you need is to show that you have the ability to defend yourself and other will leave you alone. The education and poverty seem like the biggest problem that leads to gun violence. I would let people in Chicago get a gun, but only for protection and improve the education and use TIF money to help people get out of poverty.

When the United States Constitution adopted the Second Amendment as a part of the Bill of Rights it was to recognize citizens the right to keep and bear arms. This Second Amendment is the reason why strong gun advocates are afraid to have any gun policy put in this state. The people that have their guns believe that the government is going to be corrupted and the people have to overturn it. But, they live in a fairytale if they really thinking that they are going to beat a army like the United States. They are afraid that the local government will take away their guns. This policy that I will explain to you won't do none of these options, but instead help the state lower the crime rates that involve guns and keep law enforcement well know to people that have guns in their possession. We are trying to go after the illegal owners of firearms instead to outstanding citizen that owns gun trying to protect his family from an home invasion, protecting his herd from wolves so the farmer won't lose more money , or just having a good time hunting with his friends and family.
Many Americans are now applying for a license to carry licensed concealed arms with them. The rate at which licenses are being approved is worrying. This development is concerning law enforcement authorities. Putting so many firearms at the disposal of the public is counterproductive to the gains that are being made on improving security and especially in the cities where incidences of gun crime and violence are on the rise.
As stated by John Lott and David Mustard, “When state concealed handgun laws went into effect in a county, murders fell by 7.65 percent, and rapes and aggravated assaults fell by 5 and 7 percent”(Lott 19). This goes to show how when a law-abiding citizen is in possession of a concealed firearm they can prevent crimes from occurring as often. Also in many cases they don’t even have to use the firearm, just by having possession of the weapon many people will be scared off from committing their crime and no one will get injured in the outcome. However opposition to concealed carry would say that its too easy for criminals to get concealed carry permits but there are actually multiple rules that prevent permits from falling into the wrong hand. As summarized by Robert McCulloch there are laws in place that prevent people from getting a permit like not having felonies and not being in a mental hospital for the five preceding years(McCulloch 1).
Citizens want to conceal carry a handgun because every day there are dangerous individuals who prey on the weak.
