The industrial revolution
The industrial revolution began around the year 1760 and carried on until about 1820 to 1840. The industrial revolution gave birth to many inventions such as medicine transport and even agricultural machinery, but one of the most important inventions was the steam engine.

How the steam engine changed the world
The steam engine changed the world by overcoming the limits of men and horses. The steam engine is what has been called the driving force behind the industrial revolution, and allowed humans to have the power of steam and to allow machines to do the most work and allow factories to reach a speed of production that had never been seen before in the 18th century. Steam meant that factories no longer had to depend on wind, water, or animals; so they were no longer limited to only being built it certain locations. The steam engine meant that less man power was needed which cost the factory owner less for wages which increased the amount of production which led to economic growth, an increase in trading and in total, more wealth for the country.

What it was used for
The steam engine was used for many things during and after the industrial revolution such as Pumping water out of the mines so the miners could work at a faster and more productive rate,
Driving factory machinery which meant that machines could work faster than ever,Steam powered transport such as steam ships for sea and steam tanks and powered road vehicles for land and even Low power engines where used to power the steam clock and small toys for children. The types of transport include:

-Marine: steam boat, steam ship
-Rail: steam locomotive
-Agriculture: traction engine, steam tractor
-Road: steam wagon, steam bus,team tricycle, ste...

What it did
After the creation of the first steam engine people moved away from agricultural jobs such as farming and harvesting and started to work in large factories because steam power allowed the factories to be built almost anywhere. This meant that production costs where lowered and production amount was raised significantly. The steam engine was also the driving force behind the industrial revolution which created industrial trade.

Is it still in use
Although in today's modern world many other things have been invented to replace the steam engine such as electricity and gas, the steam engine is still in minor use to generate small amounts of electricity and for old fashioned trains used in European countries.
