The Importance of College Education
Young adults today are questioning whether or not they should expand their education after high school. With the scare of student debt, many students after receiving their diploma tend to believe they do not need to continue their education to become successful individuals. They think they are making a wise decision by avoiding student loans and debt; however, in order to succeed, students have to go to college to gain the knowledge and skills that are required in the workforce today. This makes young adults believe that college is a waste of time and that even without a college degree they can be successful even though the chances are low. In reality the more education and skills you gain, the more likely you are to become a successful adult. Renee Halton explains that “the task you perform, not the education you have is what determines your income (1).” This statement can be true for some people, but the majority of people are not as likely to become successful. Choosing to further your education at a young age is important so that you can gain more education, more skills, and more experience in their lifetime.
