This article is an opinion piece, explaining how immigration is something that stands to have numerous benefits for the United States and its economy. It focuses on the roots of illegal immigration specifically, and how this topic in itself has served as a divisive measure for America, especially today. Illegal Immigration has great relevance currently in our government class, due to of course being of great relevance in our government, especially taking into account the recent presidential election. In this article, however, I believe that there is a clear bias that they do nothing more than boost our economy. She does not include in her analysis however, the negative impacts that these individuals also have on the U.S., which I believe are the real reasons behind “illegal immigration” being looked at by some Americans so negatively. One of her main points is that they strengthen the job force, however she fails to touch on the counter argument that is, they take jobs away from the Americans needing them, causing our unemployment rate to rise as there are not enough jobs to sustain our already massive population. I understand where she is coming from, the idea that they are the ones taking the jobs that no one else wants, this idea that we rely on them for this, but I still believe that it is an over exaggeration to say that America is strictly built on illegal immigrants, that we depend on them to do the dirty work behind the scenes as we serve as the stars of the …show more content…

Do these people or do they not have the right to be here and have a chance at the life liberty and the pursuit of happiness that we offer our citizens. It is hard to say for sure if either side is strictly right or wrong and for this reason, this topic has and will continue to stand as a divisive measure for Americans today. We have a very diverse nation that does hold very different beliefs on how to handle these individuals, however, I believe that sitting on the fence as a country is dangerous as our resources are becoming exhausted funding to a certain degree implementations for both sides. However, with the new president of the Unites States being strongly, openly, in favor of one side, no longer on the fence trying to please both sides, it should be interesting to see how this issue will be resolved in the future and if Trump will actually stay true to his
