Immigration is Hurting Our Economy!

Introduction Critical thinking provides an opportunity to explore the positive and negative sides of an argument for and against an idea, theory or notion. Reasoning and perception is attuned to personal impression and provides outcome to belief and opinion. The dictionary term and understanding for the word ‘logic’ is “of sound thinking and proof by reasoning” (Merriam-Webster, 2009). Logic is the examination of the methods and doctrine used to determine ‘correct’ from ‘incorrect’ and is used in the structure of an argument. Allied to critical thinking, logic has a place and holds a relationship that reflects the thought process yet; critical thinking has a more diverse standard of questioning relative to developing both intellectual and emotional queries that can better evaluate reason. Immigration is a prevalent issue in the United States and must be addressed in order to open more jobs for Americans and stop illegal immigrants from entering. In 2008 there were roughly 11.9 million immigrants living the in the United States. President Obama said that immigration reform would be a priority in his 1st year in office. Immigrants are currently held in prisons and jail cells and the government wants to make it more civil. They are living in substandard conditions and often mistreated. Immigration need to be kept under control and have constant upgrades in security. Foreigners’ can complement our workforce, but now they are taking American jobs and lower pays. This paper will discuss the arguments for and against immigration within the United States addressing topics related to employment, healthcare, increased poverty and increased country revenue. Immigrants have said they are going to be proactive in these programs and acts but there hasn’t been much movement as of now. Immigrants came here for the same reason that families have always come here and that is the American dream. Immigration started in the 1840s and will most likely never stop, but our county need to take more action in controlling it. United States citizens like to believe that people should have the chance to better themselves. That is why people come to the United States to make things better for themselves. Immigrants come here to have freedom of religion, to be able to have a proper education and to have better paying jobs. At this point these immigrants are hurting out economy and it needs to be addressed by passing these acts or government creating more acts to control it.
