There is not a single solution that can be offered to resolve the child obesity epidemic nor

is there a single addressee capable of implementing all these proposals on their own. Considering

that many young children have little to no power over their diets, since the parents are making

their food choices for them, like packing their lunches, recommendations should first be offered

to the parents. Parents serve as role models for their children, especially when establishing skills

and habits. The issue begins when the basic foundations to understanding health and nutrition are

skewed; as a result of witnessing their parents demonstrate poor eating habits and not engaging

in physical activity. Thus, our primary suggestion for parents is to look at the nutritional value of

foods and their label contents so they can reduce the amount of foods that are high in fat, salt,

and sugar. When the children become accustomed to healthier foods during family meals, the

decision of choosing a similar meal when on their own is that much easier. The children then too
