Bullying is classified as basically a form of intimidation or domination toward someone who is perceived as being weaker. Chances are most people have seen someone being bullied, bullied someone else, or have been bullied themself. Whether this was physical or verbal with many of these current studies state that everyone that has been bullied should have, “effects of depression (and even suicide), drug use and stunted social development.” (Bullying Statistics 7). Surprisingly, except for rare cases, this isn’t true. Because many children being bullied can learn many lessons that will help them survive socially later in life, and bullying is an essential social experience, it only makes sense that bullying helps many children with their social development; therefore bullying has some very positive effects that many children should go through.
For instance, bullying is a challenge many children must overcome. Many types of bullying are may be damaging but ultimately help a child’s social development that truly helps a child later in life. What helps children are the lessons that bullying gives and how the child can overcome bullying. In “Indian Education” the narrator is bullied his whole life because of his ethnic background and overcomes to change this opinion of himself. Most children must understand that not everyone is going to like them and the sooner they learn this, the better. Once the children understand they have a better chance to survive socially in life. ...llying can be beneficial to a child’s social development. From my research the positives out-weigh the negatives in bullying. Normal bullying isn’t the problem it’s when this silly schoolyard bullying borders along the line of harassment is when bullying is the problem and this needs to be stopped but with so much help these days a child has the tools to overcome bullying and learn from their experience. It is also very rare that bullying can make a dramatic change in one’s life but it can teach many life lessons that I believe every child should know before becoming an adult.
