The work required in the writing center I felt was very helpful in helping in my course. Many of the assignments corresponded with my assignment in my regular course and having the extra help allowed me to correct my mistakes. The examples and suggestions in the book were very easy to follow and informative.
Everyone was very helpful in explaining to me the mistakes I had made on some of my assignments and gave me very helpful feedback and suggestions on the upcoming assignments.
The amount of work required in the writing center seems to be comparable to the amount for any college level course and I appreciated the extra assistance outside of my professor.
The usefulness of the writing center is a truly great resource, the one thing that I really like about the writing center are the desk area where you can sit and complete your assignments, another is the computer lab which is very beneficial to me, when I need to correct an assignment or print out my assignments.

I was told that I needed to hurry up because a class was going to start
...out homework, which was a huge stress relief. The class also offered how to write the base foundation of any paper, which is significant to become a great writer as well as to write a flawless paper. Also, the group activities allowed us to get closer with our classmates. However, I feel like some of the activities we did were mediocre and ordinary. But it is hard to tell what experience each student received from their high school. Some knew more than others, and I was just more grateful with the education I obtained from high school. I was also not fond of buying the books for the class, when it was not a necessity for class. We did not put much use into the books, and they were relatively expensive. I do recommend the class, especially to incoming freshman. It is a great foundation for legitimate college writing classes. I enjoyed learning from you Mrs. Penwell.
Now, I not only have a new found confidence in writing and in my life skills. Mrs.Cohen provided proper feedback and guidance with each assignment. Due to this, my writing confidence flourished. Without this course, not to mention the teacher, I would not even think about applying for dual enrollment. I certainly feel I have improved in English classes and my passion was rekindled. Mrs.Cohen made me find the enjoyment in writing again and inspired me to be myself. I wish to keep my work ethic, strong to become successful while being myself and I will be forever thankful for
Entering this course I was worried because I have struggled with writing in the past, and writing has never been my strongest area. I feared writing classes in middle and high school, and had the same expectations for this course. I had wondered if I was ready for college English, and was worried that my skills and abilities would not be one the level they needed to be for college courses. My attitude and understanding of my writing process have both changed since the beginning of this semester. One thing that really helped my attitude and confidence was the fact that I was able to complete the assignments and get a decent grade. I was worried that I might not be able to do college level writing, and when I started completing the assignments and learning new ways to write my confidence and attitude changed. Another thing that really helped me throughout this course was that there was plenty of reading and information available to guide me through my assignments. I realized that there was more freedom when it comes to writing than I had experienced in high school. Being able to write more freely, and the freedom to choose what subjects I would write over made the assignments more enjoyable and easier to
Especially with the help of my professor Ms. Piper. I was still having trouble on material on writing, but she helped me by teaching us the writing process, how to revise our drafts, and how to use outlines to help us. She has also taught us ways of breaking down paragraphs in piece of writing to help us understand what we are reading about. I feel with this new approach it opened my eyes on a way to help me excel on my writing, and reading. I am an excellent writer and reader than I was before.
My portfolio will demonstrate the skills and writing techniques I have developed and honed while taking the course English 1010 at the University of Memphis. Some of the techniques and skills I have learned include how to write with different persuasive strategies on the audience and how to incorporate critical thinking into my work. As well as these skills I have learned how to apply an effective composing process to my writing and have fine tuned my writing abilities. Writing with different styles on different topics has improved the way I approach writing papers. These styles helped me learn quickly, therefore making me a better writer and student at the same time.
As a strong math, science and engineering student, writing has not come easy to me and by taking this class, I was hoping to become a stronger writer. Throughout the semester, organizing ideas in logical ways has become straight forward thanks to the peer discussions and review I have had. Before this class, I struggled to transition between ideas and discuss each idea in a logical sequence and, unfortunately, my language arts and history grades suffered as a result. By exuding effort and receiving guidance, my hope was to improve my writing and prepare myself for the college writing which would be
I strive to improve my abilities in all academic areas and writing is particularly important in the social work field. Each day, I will be required to write case reports, referral documents, and other pieces, so it will be of great benefit to refine my skills while in my undergraduate career. Therefore, I do believe that if I put my mind to it and keep working on removing extra words from my papers, my writing will improve over time and I will receive even better feedback from professors. I am thankful this class offered me the chance to explore different kinds of professional writing styles, such as reflecting on an interview with another individual, examining my own background and beliefs, and relating course material to real-life situations. It was good preparation for what I will need to do in future classes and in the field, so I am glad a writing-intensive course like this one is required prior to entering the social work
When I started this class I thought I was somewhat alright writer. I understood the basics of writing and believed I knew how to write an entertaining piece. All of the papers we wrote showed me one of my weaknesses as a writer.
In conclusion, this book was amazingly informative and very helpful. It is definitely something that every student should read before writing another paper. It lays out the dos and don'ts of the writing process; it is great way to improve your technique. This book went all the way from showing you exactly how to write certain types of papers, such as long messages and memos all the way to compare and contrast papers, to showing you how to write in detail with all papers. This book is definitely something that I would recommend to future students. Especially in business classes, or any writing classes for that matter. Writing is a huge part of communication, and this book helped with the fundamentals that many people lack but are essential in the long run.
Introduction A service learning experience is designed to enhance a student 's growth in personal and social development and to obtain an understanding of community involvement. For my service learning experience, I volunteered at Change Point Center. In this reflection paper, I will discuss in depth information about the services that Change Point provides, my goals while I was there, and what I ultimately learned from this experience. Information about this experience Change Point center is located in Hot Springs, Arkansas and is a non-profit organization. The role of the agency is to help women in crisis pregnancies as well as families that face crisis situations.
I met many different people who have helped me along the way. The problems I had at the beginning of the semester such as MLA format and transitions are not a problem for me anymore. Learning to fix those were a struggle, but enjoyed seeing myself grow as a writer. New things I learned along the way was understanding new information and putting those onto paper. There are many things that I plan on working on in the future to continue to flourish as a writer. I worked through my problems this semester, and those showed me how to get over my writing obstacles and be the best writer that I can
This class was far more intense than what I expected but I was able to make it through the semester. I learned a lot from this class that I will carry into the future and use in other classes. All of the revision and feedback I have received during the time in the class helped me in the end. I feel like I am gradually becoming a better writer. I will take everything that I have learned in this class and use it for future reference when writing papers. I overall have enjoyed this class this semester.
After taking this course, this has been a struggling journey. I did not find fun in this class due to the grade I have now as a result. My writing skills did not improve from high school, losing confidence in myself to create well-written, interesting papers. However, this class has given me ideas about new styles of writing. Having done these papers helped me to discern the qualifications to write a rhetorical analysis essay from a visual critique paper. Here is how my experience in College Writing went.

Class participation was great everyone joined in on the discussion. People in the class felt comfortable talking out loud and putting there two sense in.
