Success might be the best accolade for every student who works hard in school, but success is not attainable without people assisting you. Every person needs help at least once in their life and also at least once in their life they’d venture help from someone. After surpassing college, I will consider exerting community services while I’m waiting to be accepted for a job. I believe that my community assist me well enough to exceed college and I perceive that it is time for me to return the favor by just doing this simple duty. People might think that community service is only the act of helping people in your community without money in exchange, but community service doesn’t only mean like that. Doing community service also means improving
I think that community service is something that everyone should do. Some people only do community service because they need the hours for school or an extracurricular activity, but when you something nice for another person, it not only makes you feel 100 times better about yourself, it also, whether you know it or not, improves another person's life. Being able to give to another person without expecting anything in return is the best quality that a person can have because the 21st century is a time where a portion of people have what they want at their fingertips. What some people don't realize is that not everyone has the blessings of living the life that they have, that is why I try so hard to give back to the community. I personally do community service a lot, and seeing the faces of the people that I have helped means so much to me because I know deep down that I have done something that required me to put others needs before my own. I get that feeling when I help out in the special needs class at my school. I feel complete when the students give me hugs and thank me for my help. That feeling motivates me and makes me a happier person. Even when all I can do for another person is make them smile, I feel like I have done something important that has helped someone more than I
Community Service is a great opportunity to make a difference in the area you live in. There are so many ways to volunteer. Some people are given chances to do community service when they need to pay off fines for tickets. Most people simply do because they love getting involved. It’s their way of making the community a cleaner, healthier place.
Is college important? Is it worth it the time and investment? The short answer is YES it is worth the time and money and YES it is very important. Saying that it is worth it still doesn’t make the decision for some easier, it can actually make it harder. There is often a fight between the investment right now vs. the dream job and life in the future. I know many of you will end up in a STEM field, many if not all jobs in any of the STEM fields require a college degree. The STEM fields consist of agriculture, architecture, computer and information sciences, engineering, engineering technologies, interdisciplinary studies, mathematics and statistics, natural resources and conservation, and physical sciences. Never in my wildest dreams would I have even begun to imagine that community service could be such a rewarding experience. As the oldest child I never had the opportunity of having someone that could help me with my homework, play with me and help me when I needed something. My parents once in a while could help me with homework, but once we moved to the United States I was definitely on my own considering my parents didn’t know enough English to help me. From this moment forward, I can say I’m very proud of myself for being where I am now without any help throughout my school years. Yet, I know I could have done better with the help of someone. I figured with the opportunity to do community service, I could take advantage of this situation and choose something that would help kids with whatever they needed and maybe even play with them if I had the chance.
Community service enhances these qualities, providing students with appreciation for and recognition of not only others’ situations, but indeed the capacity to relate to and truly value other humans being “served”. Furthermore, students are not solely rewarded with reciprocity, as they are able to see the effects of their service and how they have affected others’ lives, but also with the opportunity to further explore their interests, which does allow them to pursue their future vocational aspirations.
Community service is a voluntary, unpaid act of kindness that an individual perform to benefit and help others who are in need. It is important for individuals to do community services. It is not only about helping the community but, also making a difference in someone’s life. It can help a person grow and build connections mentally, physically, and emotionally. Emotionally, it can help a person feel kindness therefore, it can also help an individual interact with others, build a relationship, and further their communication. College. It is the seven-letter word that almost every child will hear thousands of times while they are growing up. They constantly are bombarded by the idea that they must go to college if they want to be successful. However, what if this is a false statement. What if college isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to seem. Well, these days some people believe that young people are better off, not going to college. Over the years the economy around the world has changed. It has prospered, and it has fallen. As the economy went downhill the government began cutting funds in areas that they felt were necessary to exterminate. One of the largest areas of funding that was cut was education. Colleges began receiving less money from the government, resulting in a rapid increase of college tuition fees. Due to this, a lot of people believe that college tuition is too expensive for what you get, and not worth the money. However, most people believe that college is necessary in order to further their education, and in order for them to earn their degree. They think that this degree has the ability to help college graduates get a job and work up to a career that only someone with a college level degree is able to achieve. The truth lies in the facts, and statistics. College is the seven-letter word that all people should be thinking about. A college education is a valuable investment that everyone should strive to achieve, and is completely worth the expensive cost.
“It takes a village” means that it takes a community to raise a child. The same way it takes the people to take care of a community and each other. To take part in community service means that you care and are giving back to those who are less fortunate. Performing acts of community service shows the appreciation and gratefulnees the people of the community have for the community. Community service builds character and creates a sense of humbleness to those who take part in it.
In today’s economy, having a good education can really define who we are especially when it comes to earning a college degree on any specified fields. Although, most people might oppose the idea that being successful doesn’t require a college education but comes in a variety of ways such as skills and talents based on who the person is. Depending on what background you came from, there are different reasons why we go to college. Most of us go due to career change/job position, increase our intellect/knowledge, not to be stigmatized, playing as a role model either to our children or even someone that we care of. In his essay, “A College Education: What Is Its Purpose?” Andrew DelBanco mentioned the reason college still matters, which is: “a college degree has replaced the high school diploma as the minimum requirement into the skilled labor market.” (Pg. 110) I do strongly agree with him because not only does a college degree replaced a high school diploma for job competition, but it also influences the way we’re viewed in society including our work environment.
Communities are places where people whom share similar characteristics, live together. People generally live in communities as a tendency to socialize with other people and satisfy needs such as food and shelter. The magnitude of needs within a small group is quenched within a family or extending to a nearby neighbor. Many people in a community have more needs and to solve those needs there are specific departments such as a police department that serve peoples’ best interests. Everyone in a community, no matter how big or small does a service to aid others. Students go to school, paid by tax-payers such as family, friends, and neighbors, so they should expect assistance in the future. High School students should be required to do community service because it helps build character and helps contribute back to those that helped them.
"It's important for students to give back to the community that for a number of years has provided them with a wonderful public education," Superintendent Dr. Frank Tassone said. "This also gives the kids the opportunity for new experiences, whether it be visiting a senior-citizens' home, volunteering in a hospital or working right in the school district in the library or attendance office. From our research, we've learned that in school districts where community service is mandated many kids who might have been reticent or too shy to volunteer have admitted that they were glad they had been forced into participating." Teenagers who do service for their community helps keep it strong for the next generations. Teenagers can tutor, coach, mentor, and support children and peers. Teenagers can walk dogs, help adoption agencies, feed animals. Teenagers can clean and care for their neighborhood, street, nearby parks and rivers. All of these examples help the community, by either caring for the physical community itself, or helping take the load off adults. Succoring the community while teenagers are younger will lead to a thriving community for everyone to take part in for the
In general, community service completed by high school students forms a more capable and responsive society. To form such a community, volunteer work should be required to graduate high school. This will boost the learning of students, and allow their education to grow and not be limited to school. When completing community service, students are placed in a surplus of different circumstances to help them grow. High schoolers also learn how to give back to society by volunteering in the community. Absolutely, volunteer work will give pupils a well balanced education incorporating both the heart and the mind, providing the means for these students to grow into mature adults who are involved and contributing positively to society.
Without community service, people would not know the meaning of charity and giving back. Community service can be defined as a service that is performed for the benefit of the public. Community service is not a responsibility or an obligation; it is a commitment. A person must want to do it with good intentions and not because they are being forced to do so. Basically, community service is a way for a person to give back to the community in which they live.
Community service is used everyday around the world to help the environment . Numerous schools and clubs now require students to engage in community activities to gain valuable lessons and traits. Also, many colleges look for students involved in community service because it shows selflessness and involvement. Community service teaches one trustworthiness, reliability, and responsibility. Even so, many people debate on the issue of community service and whether it should be a requirement in the school curriculum. When being brought to this topic, I think about how it will affect different people and how the importance of community service should be brought to school curriculums.
Community Service Learning Programs promote positive social change by providing students opportunities to learn and develop through active participation in a thoughtfully organized and structured community service learning environment. It also engages students in active learning that demonstrates the relevance and importance of academic work for their life experience and career choices.
