Even when I was a little kid clueless about the world I had always seen animals to be one of us. They are creatures with a beating heart, blood running through their veins and a soul inside of them. So it is only right to treat them with respect. But the things that I saw when I was only eight years old horrified me. I saw a dog with ropes around its neck hanging while it was being drowned in a dirty canal by some guy. He was not able to kill the dog so he stopped and let it go. As I saw the dog struggling to stand and run away, I felt like my heart was being crushed into pieces. The only thing I wanted to do was to help save it and all the animals that needs saving. I have always muddled on what to take in college. But recently I realized that I want to be a veterinarian because of my cat Arya. He is the most precious thing to me because he is the one who could always warm my heart up. The thought of him tortured by pain makes me sorrowful. Now I have decided to take up veterinary medicine in college and do what I have always wanted to do 10 years ago. I know achieving my goal would be a long rigorous process. It requires a lot of sleepless nights of studying but I am determined to be a veterinarian. …show more content…
I want to work with pets and farm animals as a practice for my bigger plans. Travelling around the Philippines to cure and save animals would be my ultimate dream. The feeling of giving birth to any animal in the world would be the most magical moment I would ever experience. Seeing that I have successfully treated an animal and save it would make me feel so accomplished. I am planning on doing that for around 5 years and then come my bigger
For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
Just recently I have been accepted to Texas A&M University I have also decided my degree choice will be biomedical science. With a biomedical science degree I have over fifty career choices I can go into. Also, this is my backup plan if I am not accepted into vet. School right away. The choices of careers range form agricultural economist, animal breeder, dentist, game manager, veterinarian assistant, and even zoologist. I have decided that what ever my career will be, it will be in agriculture and will deal with animals. Animals are so interesting and tricky they can’t tell you what is wrong with them like people can. With animals you have to find out for yourself.
Animals are used today for many sources of protection, food, clothing, transportation, sports, entertainment, and labor, but millions of these animals die each year from abuse. “Most of the reasons that people give for denying animals rights are: animals do not have souls, god gave humans dominion over the animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, animals do not reason, think, or feel pain like humans do, animals are a natural resource to used as humans see fit, and animals kill each other” (Evans). It all started in the nineteenth century, when people began abusing animals by beating them, feeding them poorly, providing them with no shelter or poor shelter, left to die if they were sick or old, or by cruel sports. Most of the organized efforts to improve human treatment of animals all started in England. Around the 1800s, there was signs of rising concern for animal welfare in the United States.
Some girls when they are little want to be a princess or have other fantastical dreams that will probably never happen; however, ever since I was little I have known I was different. I have a burning passion for animals and always wanted to be a veterinarian. Some people have told me I can not do it since the field is so competitive but I remained steadfast as I child, clinging to my ambitions and even now I am pursing them. It is a challenge I will surmount if I take steps, slowly but surely, towards my goal. I know I am taking steps and planning the steps I will take towards my goal and the steps I am planning to take in order to make myself stand out as an applicant when I apply to veterinary school are to gain hands on experience with animals in a variety of ways, gain experience by working directly with a veterinarian, and becoming involved in my community.
Through my experiences, I have learned the reality of veterinary medicine. It is not about playing with puppies and kittens. My clients might not appreciate me, my patients might be difficult, I may get frustrated, and I might not make much money. Yet veterinary medicine is about more than that. It is a career with purpose, a lifelong source of challenge, personal growth, fulfilled academic curiosity, and opportunities to impact lives, both human and animal. In return, I offer a strong scientific aptitude, along with a diverse background and natural empathy. It will not be easy, but a degree in veterinary medicine is, without a doubt, my next pivotal step in
over 1,800 cases of animal cruelty in the past year because of the lack of animals having rights revealed in the media, with 64.5% involving dogs, 18% involving cats and the other 25% involving other animals. They should have rights because they have feelings, they are valuable, and they mean a lot to some families to the point where they’re considered to be a part of the family. Most importantly, humans are also animals, So think about how you would feel if someone had full control over you or someone you loved and did things to you that you didn’t enjoy or like. You have to think about their world from their standpoint. Yes, they are animals but they should not be less valued just because they are different from humans.
God created all living things on Earth with the same feelings and all living things have a right to live on this Earth. So if u see an animal getting abused you need to take them to an animal shelter or buy them an extra bag of dog food. When I see an animal getting abused it really hurts my feelings. Have you ever seen an animal getting abused, if so you need to help them.
However, when I took it, I found that I was very interested in it. I have also always loved animals so I put the two together and now I want be a vet. Wanting to be a vet has shaped me into who I am today because of three main reasons.
Animals have emotions/feelings they are living creatures. They are not toys you can play with and do whatever you want with. We shouldn't treat animals in such horrifying ways, instead we should treat them how we would like others to treat us, with kindness and respect. A very important issue that's going on is animal hoarding. Animal hoarding occurs when an individual is housing more animals than that person can adequately care for.
While some people deserve to be sentenced to prison for crimes similar to child abuse or child neglect, those should not be the only crimes punishable to that extent. Animals can not protect themselves or fight for their right to safety(Saranzak). So while murder and child abuse are very horrible crimes, animal abuse is just the same and should be dealt with in that manner(Buff). When it comes to animals, we all see them as the loving best friends we all need. It makes you think again why someone would neglect the most loving thing on this planet.
Firstly Islams religion values place high rules on the treatment of animals that should be respected. The holy Quran mentions several manuscripts advising its believers that animals have their own rights and human are the ones responsible for their enforcing them ensuring animals welfare Omar & Raheema (2016, p153). Animal’s rights guideline is a set of values believers of Islam must follow since it was one of their main religious principles. Islam’s prophet Mohammed (PBHU) also advised Muslims on treating animals with
Animals deserve fair and ethical treatment, however not necessarily equally. Non-human animals and humans are not one in the same, there is no way we will ever be defined and put in the same category. Humans have reference levels, the ability to reason and think logically. We have evolved to the point where we can study, contain, and determine the outcome of basically any animal on Earth, now it’s up to us to ensure they are treated fairly.
Throughout the history of the world, there have been subjects of heated debates; there are a few facts that are undisputed. One of the undisputed facts is that animals existed and inhabited the planet before humans did and humans have been dependent on animals for thousands of years. Animals have played a very vital part in our history and one wonders whys should they be treated with much cruelty. While animals have been a great resource, a steady supply of food and clothing and even security, our treatment towards them has become nothing short of appalling. Since humans are dependent on animals for their well being, their comfort and at times their religion, there should be a moral obligation to treat animals.
“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of diseases.”
God was so interest in the welfare of the animals that He commanded Noah to build an Ark big enough to hold two of each kind of animal. In Genesis 1:26 God entrusted us to care for these beautiful creations. Taking care of your pet entails going to the vet, a balanced and nutritious diet, and plenty of exercise.
