I would describe myself as an overachieving, passionate, knowledgeable, ambitious, and principled learner. I strive to maintain a balance between strong academic standing while also being involved in several activities around my school and community. Undertaking multiple challenges is a passion that I have. Aside from school and connecting with the community, one of my top priorities is the wellbeing of my friends and family. The source of my strength and motivation comes from the joy and stress relief that my friends and family provide me. I correct the student's work and teach them methods to help them. My responsibility is to help enhance the student’s abilities in math and English. I was elected by the student body as a representative in grade 11. In my grade 12 year, I was appointed treasurer. My responsibilities for both years include representing the school, planning activities like dances and spirit weeks, engaging with the student body, and managing the council’s budget as treasurer. I’ve been with the Chinese pavilion for three years as a receptionist, emcee, and a youth ambassador and hope to reprise that role this upcoming Mosaic. I represent my culture, educate others on what the Chinese culture offers and connect with other cultures to bring about diversity in the community. I must ensure that the expenses and reimbursements being paid are asking for the correct amounts, taken from the correct accounts, and recorded. Any money received must be checked. It has been a good learning experience for me and has built up a leadership characteristic. I have learned how to create and plan interactive activities for others and host them. My communication skills have improved as I collaborate with my fellow council members and engage with the student body, meeting new people. This skill is essential when the SLC must welcome the grade nine students into high school. Communication is key since I represent the student body in a school with many students. I am sometimes forced to step out of my comfort zone, but the challenge always leads to new and unique opportunities such as becoming Santa for photos in the school. Along with planning events and keeping the school engaged, as treasurer I must manage the SLC’s budget for events and activities. We have a set budget for every event that we plan, such as the annual Campbell Carnival and school dance. I am responsible for making sure we do not exceed our budget. Therefore I must know the exact amount that we spend and gain so I have record of how much more we can spend on an activity. This teaches me the importance of financial management and budgets. There is a huge time commitment made to SLC and at times, it can be very demanding. Over some time, I have learned to balance SLC with my IB
