I can honestly say that I'm pretty happy with the person I am and where I am today. I have been through a lot and have struggled with mental illness including, anxiety and depression for years now. I am still working on coping with these illnesses and ignoring the inner voices, believe me it's been really tough, but everyday that passes is a day I get stronger, and for that I couldn't be happier. Through all of this I not only learned a lot about myself but I found who my true friends were. Everyday I'm thankful to everyone who has helped me achieve my goals and be there to reassure me that I got this and everything was going to be okay, things were going to get better. There was one point were I wanted to give up completely but I held on because
This basically sums up how my life is right now. Am very happy with what I have and what I have learned through my life. Am satisfied with the blessing I have receive up to know. According to Earl & Carol Diener, People who reports positive satisfaction may say as much about people as about the target of satisfaction (1996). I know that many time we may encounter with hard moment, but the point of it is to analyze what lead us to that and learn from it. As, I mention on my serious introduction, am married to my high school sweetheart and have two beautiful boys who every day fills my days with happiness and push me to become more of a better person. I try to the max to enjoy every second and every minute of my life, with the people I love and that gives me
I began to go to therapy, I found healthy patterns of taking care of myself, safe ways to take risks, I found communities I belonged in, and the list could go on. After therapy had gone on for awhile, my psychologist and I found it in my best interest to have a psychiatric support/service animal, which soon after she advised and I garnered all the paperwork necessary to have her with me wherever I may wish or need, I did. If you're wondering if I named her what you're thinking, you bet I did, her name is Kuroi. Adopting Kuroi was the biggest positive change in my life, I noticed after that living with depression, with anxiety, with bipolar disorder, with this long list of problems going on inside my mind constantly, that life isn't so awful all the
The thing is, if you give up, you will never forgive yourself in the future and you will regret it a lot. This is why I believe that if you just stay positive through tough situations, you will get through anything in life. There have been many times in my athletic career where I just wanted to give up and quit the sport. Whether it being basketball, football, track, or baseball. But, there was always something in the back of my mind that told me to keep thinking positive and to keep trying.
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks. They really should get a life." He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!" There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. I asked him if he wanted to play football on Saturday with me and my friends. He said yes. We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him. And my friends thought the same of him.
Changing my lifestyle meant I was ready for a new chapter in my life along with my family and friends; leaving the negativity behind that I was once dragged in. Depression imprinted my life and still does, but much less. I’ve learned how to manage it when I breakdown. It’s part of the learning process. Depression was my failure, but I am thankful for the experience because it has helped me grow out into the person and shape my personality to whom I am
I’ve learned to never give up, even though everything in me tells me to throw in the towel. I am
...e not so much, but I can honestly say that I’m glad that I could overcome all of the troubles I endured these past few years. I’m grateful that I had the help of so many people to actually stay strong in everything I have been through. My grandmother having dementia, losing a childhood home, connecting with an absent father and overcoming mental illness have all made in huge impact in my life.
To me, Veterans Day is an important holiday because it bring attention to those who deserve it most yet get overlooked. I feel that any person willing to put their life on the line or in stressful, complicated circumstances for the betterment of others deserves praise. In my opinion, veterans are the unsung heros of this nation and stand as inspirations to all, including myself.
While everyone has their own stories about their childhood growing up, I'm happy with the life I had growing up and having all of the patience and kindness I got from my parents. Not everyone was raised the same way as everyone else in their life but I know that my kids will be raised the same way as i was
I fought a war with myself and I am so proud to say that I am still standing here today due to my perseverance. I recognize that depression was a significant part in my life that shaped who I am now. I know that because of it, I am more careful in the words choose, I pick up on emotions easily, I know how to console people, and the list goes on. Despite depression being a major part of my identity for 15 years, I am proud to say that I am journeying through my life finding who I am without it. I plan to do all the things I said I couldn’t: Graduate high school, get my college diploma, find a job, and find my
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
Are you kind to everyone, parents, friends, peers, etc? Are they kind? Being kind or not plays a large part in community environments. According to CNTraveler Charleston, SC is currently the kindest city in the United States. It is likely that Charleston has a better community than here in Madison, WI. Being kind allows for better communication, and it also helps one to become a positive force in another's life. These are both very important factors in life. If one is a negative force in a friends life or even in a random person's life, one never knows how much that could hurt another.

I am grateful for my life in many ways and for many reason, I was born 5 weeks premature and one of twins. Though my twin did not survive long enough for me to know him it gave me a purpose to try new things. Whenever I am scared of a new experience such as snow-boarding I think about how lucky I am to be alive and well. This thought helps me to spread my wings and embrace the unknown. Even simple things make me feel thankful, such as running in the rain or taking a walk with my dog or just a lazy Sunday afternoon with myself makes me think how great it is to be alive and here. I have always delight in the small moments in life and to think that they could never exist for me is depressing. Furthermore, being able to share my thoughts and feeling with people I love is something that brings me great joy.
With my best friend by my side, I am a truly happy teenager with nothing but greatness coming my way. I am an intelligent and quite cute, with my black curls and big dark brown eyes. This deceived a lot of people, I was a well-behaved child. I would share just enough about myself that no other questions were asked. I was able to maintain my school life and my home life into two worlds without mixing them up.
