Why did abolitionist oppose slavery, here are some reasons as to why. Some religious groups through of slavery as a disease and didn’t want to be associated with it. Theodore weld wrote that every man knows that slavery is a curse. Pamphlets were produced to remind people that the american revolution was fought in the name of liberty. Some abolitionist thought slaves should have the same rights as white americans but others wanted no social or political equality. Some abolitionist wanted to send slave groups back to africa to repopulate there. Ideas like that thought that would prevent conflicts in the united states. If we returned them to their native land that would make everything alright.
