The salary of professional athletes : Too much or just enough? Athletes can be many people’s idol. These athletes are swishing a ball, running 10 yards to the touch down post or making a home run. Though to do that,these athletes receive a massive salary. There are some people who think these pro athletes' salaries is too much and they don’t deserve the money they get. Others argue that they receive the ideal amount. Pro athletes do not get paid too much because their careers are insecure, they work hard, and they don’t rely fully on money. Athletes take the risk of ending their careers. By being injured, their careers could potentially disappear in a flash. The chance of getting injured increases as a pro athlete. According to Pro athletes’ salaries aren’t overly exorbitant, “Paying exorbitant salaries to athletes is the brevity of their career. All of athletes are a busted knee, concussion, or torn rotator cuff away from the end of their career…”(Singletary 960). This is wrong because they are not all conciented humans and most athletes are saving for family needs. They are renting apartments and having modest cars, looking at long term instead of immediate”(Sullivan March). This quote means that even the people who do receive “huge” paychecks are not having an extravagant lifestyle, but more of a modest life.
