“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” This quote by William Arthur Ward is perhaps my favorite message in regards to education and the role that teachers play in the lives of their students. Though young in age and with obvious faults, I make up for it with life experiences that sadden, amaze, and inspire those who are eager to listen and to learn. A brief description will show that growing up I was taught to be a “southern gentlemen”, that is to be respectful to everybody, have proper manners, and most importantly to be a hard worker. From around the 4th grade to the current time I have always been fascinated with school and with social studies. When summer came around I was always anxious for it to be over with so that I might go back to school and learn new information, or read a new book. Another facet of my character building was team sports: baseball, basketball, and football. Through these activities I learned to be a team leader, to work hard, to face adversity, and to respond to criticism in a positive way. As I grew older I entered the work force …show more content…

I feel that with this short paper I have proven without doubt that I have what it takes to be a quality teacher. I will be an employee that will always work hard and love my job unconditionally all the while accepting and respecting criticisms from my piers so that I may better my self and my work. I may lack the best grades, but having me as an employee ensures that students get a person who loves students and their individuality, who loves all people regardless of race, religion, sex, etc, and who wants to inspire and help mold their young minds so that they are prepared to be citizens that will help the next
