The labor market has become saturated as more graduates find their way into the market annually in search of a befitting employment. Due to the fact that the numbers of people looking for jobs are more than the number of jobs available, employers have device ways to screen out candidates during employment process. One of the factors they consider during screening is the course of study.

Today, companies will not even touch an application that does not include a Bachelor’s Degree; even if the Bachelor’s Degree has nothing to do with the job being applied for. Attention is not given to whether the hopeful applicant qualifies for the job; all that matters is that the applicant has a Bachelor’s degree. If you are still in college, you can take business electives. Accounting, statistics and economics are a good start. If you have a little flexibility in your program, round out your education with classes in math and basic finance. For the best possible chances, aim for high grades both in your primary major and in your business classes.
During my college years, the hardest choice I had to make was deciding on a major and choosing a career path. When I came to OCC I knew I loved business but I was also curious about accounting. I found that the business degree with a concentration in accounting was the program for me. When I think of a financial manager, accountant quickly comes to mind. The role of accountant and financial manager are similar in several ways and often times they work closely together on various projects. The role of an Accountant is to ensure that their organization is run efficiently, make sure their records are accurate, and that their taxes are paid properly and on time. Accountants perform a broad range of accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting activities for their clients. They record and analyze the financial information of the companies for which they work. Other responsibilities include budgeting, performance evaluation, cost management, and asset management. “The role of the financial manager has expanded beyond traditional responsibilities related to company's finances. A financial manager, through his/her understanding of the company's financial health, the current market, and the goals of the company, helps set direction and guides decision making.” Financial managers perform several different task related to finance for their organization they normally oversee the preparation of financial reports, direct investment activities, and implement cash management strategies.
It had been very difficult to start out in the world of Business Administration as a student during this rough economic time. Many students have had a difficult time getting involved in the business world due to the low demand in jobs and internships. This is a big issue because it does not allow students to understand the real conflicts and agreements that have to be made day by day in the business world. Another thing is that it also limits their views to understand this same world.
The study of management is a learning of a set of attitudes and beliefs about people, work, action and organization. It might not be the whole of management, but it is the foundation of management.
My long-term professional aspiration is to enter the field of international management consulting. A MBA from your school in interdisciplinary studies will enhance my understanding of all aspects of business. This will contribute significantly to becoming effective in the consulting profession. I am extremely enthusiastic about the future of International Business. I believe that there are major breakthroughs yet to be made in the field. After completing a MBA in your school, I hope to gain practical experience and exposure with a major international business firms. Eventually, I wish to establish my own consulting company providing various financial and managerial services.
The author Ken Lakuta (date unknown) once wrote, “Opportunities exists in the air for just a few minutes. If you don’t obey your gut feeling right away, you’ve lost your chance” (Brown, quoting Lakuta, date unknown, p.3). I do not want to miss my chance! I intend to seize the moment and finish the courses necessary to obtain my master’s of business administration for many reasons. With the tools the University has made available to me such as “rEsource”, learning team environment, and problem-based learning I will successfully complete this program and achieve my goal.
This essay has shown that some of the most important elements for business students to be successful in their career are time management practices, greater knowledge and skills related to time management and how business studies can help lead to successful business career by linking theories studied with real experiences in the workplace.
In my degree plan, I realize that I will have to complete my general education classes including English, math, science, history, and the humanities. These classes have the ability to prepare me for the rigorous work that I will face within my core business classes. Program requirements vary based on each institution’s own specific curriculum. However common core courses in business administration programs are mostly centered on financial accounting, business law, economics, finance, organizational behavior, business management, marketing, human resource management and operations management . Through research of my career path, I realize that a Masters in Business Administration would be even more useful because it has the potential to attract potential investors. Median yearly wages for people with Business Management degrees range from $46,00-$115,000 . The duties of owning a fashion boutique include managing the daily operations of the store, all finances, and maintain the vision of the store
