Why have we waited this long for women to start speaking up against discrimination? Discrimination against women makes a lasting impact on the women who experience it. Many of these women were too afraid to speak out against their perpetrators, until now. Women’s discrimination leads to unequal pay in the workplace we women out preform men, sexual harassment, and unfair appreciation for school teachers. Unequal pay in the workplace is very unfair, especially for women. For example, consider the case of the U.S. women’s soccer team as Bloomberg says, “Relative to their competition, the U.S. women’s team has dramatically out-preformed the men.” To clarify, even though the men’s team gets more money, the women’s team is even more successful than the men’s team. Another fact Bloomberg says, regarding world rankings, is, “In the past decade the women’s teams ranking hasn’t dipped below No. 2; the men haven’t been higher than No. 14 and are currently ranked 28.” Even though the women’s team has only been ranked 1st or 2nd, they still get paid less than the men’s team. As if unequal pay wasn’t enough, women also have to deal with sexual harassment. …show more content…

Chantal Da Silva states, “Among all female respondents, 27% - or 1 in 4 - said they had survived sexual assault.” This is an alarming amount of women who have experienced sexual assault. Another statistic Chantal Da Silva declared is, “Among those who said they had experienced sexual harassment or assault, 31% of women and 20% of men said it caused them to feel anxiety or suffer from depression.” This means, after someone gets sexually assaulted or harassed it completely messes up their life and your relationships with other people.
