My main life goal is to get my PhD in Electrical Engineering. I would also like to obtain my masters somewhere along the way. My second goal is to make a major contribution to the field of electrical engineering. Whether its a major invetion or publication, it should have a major effect on the industry. My third life goal is to work in the digital design industry. Digital design is the most interesting field of electrical engineering and for my career to be most enjoyable I should work in this field. I have done serval projects on my own and have the ablity to complete them with general ease. I teach myself a lot of skills such as computer programing circuits and some basic fabrication when I do my projects. I have also worked in several group projects and have been a successful leader. In contrast my weaknesses include bad study habbits, trouble focusing, and not being as motivated as I'd like to be. I can proform well on tests if I am well propared I am not always. This may hinder my ablity to get into grad school. In general I complete my work early and in a efficient fasion but occionally this is not the case. I am looking at companies such as IBM, Global Foundries, and General Electric. These companies are all in the digital design industry. Working in the industry would certianly help getting a full time job after I am done with my education. I am currently in research at school but I have yet to write any scholarly articles. Producing some sort of intelectual idea of my own would greatly boost my chances when applying to graduate schools. Another way to do this would to do a personal project, which I have done several. I am interested in robotics design as well as programming but have not done much more than basic projects. Now with more skills and knowledge a long term personal project is more relistic and a good talking point in interviews. Graduate schools I would be interested in atending would be Cornell, SUNY Stony Brook, and SUNY Buffalo. These are all large prestegious Universtys that have exellent electrical engineering programs. There I would like to focus on digital design, the field I hope to work in when I graduate. My graduate thesis may be some important work to me but I want my best contribution to come afterward. After I hope to go right into industry working for a large company and doing ground breaking work.
