How can some people struggle when they have a degree from a quality institution, while others can be successful without a college degree or in a field unrelated to their degree? In my opinion, it’s because a college education doesn’t guarantee success. Success is up to many other factors that college often does not teach. I believe that certification tests would be a better replacement for the BA, because they would separate the students with the will and determination from those who are just coasting their way through their courses. Having other forms of means like certification tests would better implement employers with the important resources in determining whether or not applicants for any given job position hold the best qualifications.

Having a college degree increases one’s job prospects, but with increased number of graduates there is no guarantee that money spent is worth it. In essence, having university education for all simply seeks to churn out more graduates without focusing on the economic fundamentals and cost implications of college education. Mounting debt burdens on graduates is a cause of concern because this impacts negatively on their financial stability. The promise of a well paying job is not guaranteed meaning that for some students it would be better to engage in vocational areas.

College is necessary for higher paying jobs and/or higher paychecks. When we realize how much college can be, we start to think that it is not worth going. The cost of earning a college degree limits people from reaching their goals. Elementary school and H... ... middle of paper ... ...t is college?
The USA needs to start encouraging its citizens to go to trade schools because that is where the jobs that make good money are. A college degree used to be the only way to get a good paying job but times have changed and getting vocational training from a trade school is the best option many people have for earning a living. Education comes at a high price for this generation and not just financially. Going to college can give students plenty of debt with no promise of a job in return, which can set a student father back on their course of life. Young adults trying to start their lives by going to college encounter many setbacks.
This shows that even though some people have a college education, they could not find jobs in their field and had to take jobs that they less likely wanted. Haltom also says, “as many as 120,000 of the nations 1.7 million 2012 graduates who wanted to work elsewhere took jobs as waiters, salespeople, cashiers, and the like” (Haltom). More and more people with a college education can not find jobs in their field. The idea of going to college has many cons but it also has many pros. It is very important to get a college education.
They need to continue to provide many resources for their students. An issue that continue to pervade is a low focus on graduating. Community colleges often focus more on getting students to attend their colleges rather than getting them to graduate and get degrees. Colleges need to set a more degree-oriented focus and offer more support to students to help them with career planning, advising for what courses to take, and discouraging students from taking courses that do not count towards their

At BHS, college courses should be made more available because it can make college a lot cheaper, a lot shorter and students can gain crucial knowledge about their desired field of work before they enter the real world. Making college courses more available at Brunswick High School, can make college as a whole, more affordable. For example, a student that enrolls in Post-Secondary Classes can earn college credits in high school without having to pay the outrageous cost of those same classes in college. The more money you can save in college the better, a lot of students need a surplus of money, and taking some college classes in high school will allow a student to have this abundance of money. Having extra money can really help a student get through college.

Many American believe college is the road map to getting a good education and becoming successful, but although college is essential in getting a good education it’s not the only way we can educate ourselves and succeed. The truth of the matter is college isn’t for everyone; many go to college with the fight of not wanting to become another statistic, or to follow their dreams.
