The history of a small town in southwest Missouri has a story of all how it all got to where they are today. This town is Republic Missouri, through the rich history wealthy entireprises on the way this town has made its mark in the history books.Through the history of the rail road through the battle of Wilson’s creek. This town has seen its fair share of action.Today Republic virtualy consumes the area of what was one rail road station and a little Springfield to the north. Through the history of the settlers and the people who came after them history will always be apart of this town.
In the 1850’s there was a rail station built in the South West Missouri known as the brookline station. The brookline is now the town of brookline which sits between Republic Missouri and springfield Missouri. This little station was the centertal hub for the area which brought in by rail people and settlers from the east coast looking for a fresh start. There was a little town next to the startion which was called little York.Little York would soon turn into what we now know as republic Missouri.
Republic got its name from President Lincoln because every one who lived there at the time was Republic. When the town first started it was hard and astruggle to get off its feet. There where little jobs and money around at first. The town grew steady as the frisco railway went in and brought market and trad commerce to the area. As people come ot the area it grew which brought more jobs and more need to thrive a get larger and biggrr.
When starting a new town in area there are going to be a few changes and challenges that some of the people had to deal with.The different weather patterns the market that wasn’t really set up and the new surroundings like...

Due to Republic being so close to Wilsons creek the battle took place it was directly affected with troops having to march in and out which brought a some what good economy to the area for agriculture to cook food for the troops as they moved closer and closer to the battle field.
History is always going on and growing Republic has grown from a pin prick on the map to a full fledge city.
The people who live there through the genrations know what it took to stick around throught tough times.Farmers that have passed throught the generations to the farmers now know what it takes to run a famr in the Ozarks. This town will continue to make history for days to come.The animals and people who travled hear where some of the toughest people that there was and will always be rememberd.
