How many people think persistence is a beneficial characteristic to have? After looking at the evidence, many people could come to the conclusion that persistence seems to have more negative aspects than positive. If someone is persistent in completing the same thing over again, there is little to no chance of them receiving a different outcome. So in other words, if a person wants to succeed in life, then they should not be persistent. There is evidence that persistence can lead to hatred, death, and failure in life. To begin, persistence can lead to the hatred of others. For example, look back on all of the annoying people you have experienced. All of them have one similar trait, persistence. They all continue the same habit everyday that will absolutely irritate someone. Those people have the ability to keep disrupting someone repeatedly, over and over. Persistence has always been considered a positive trait. Although, hopefully others will now see that there are negative aspects to persistence and apply that to their everyday life. People just have to understand that in the end, good still may outrule the bad. Everyone tries to make everything either good, or bad. When in reality they are just hiding from the truth. To them it is easier to label something black or white, just simply good or bad, yet if they do this they will never come close to understanding the world around them. As stated before, persistence can be a very negative part of someone’s life, while still being good in other instances. A person should focus on seeing the whole picture, not just one side or the other.
