The 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, is the most meaningful amendment to me. As a young woman, women’s issues are very important to me. For many years before women’s suffrage was amended to the Constitution, women faced sexist oppression that kept them out of the workforce, out of politics and many other things. Women had no voice or representation. This amendment means the world to me because it has allowed me to have the world. As a young female, I have faced my fair share of sexism. It manifests itself in double standards, harassment, and assumed inferiority. Sexism affects everyone. It inhibits us all from creating an efficient and equal environment.
