Already knowing what my personality type is, I skipped this assessment. I find personality types fascinating. These tests can be very helpful in life, especially when choosing a career. Still, I find that this personality test, or any personality test, is not necessarily useful, as personalities are constantly changing in little ways. Over the course of a year, I have had three different personality types, which were all similar in some way. All personalities had agreed with me at that time. At the current time, out of the sixteen types, I am personally an ESTJ, which means that I am an extroverted, sensing, thinking and judgmental individual. In my case, ESTJs tend to have an orientation for business and make good administrators. This personality type has a knack for leadership and organization. These people are realistic, who can make practical decisions quickly. Based on their personality, ESTJ types do best with careers such as public relations, sales, and management. Having a “model citizen” persona, ESTJs make every effort to uphold values such as justice and a drive for wanting to help others out. When researching this type, rigidness, organization, and having an overbearing presence are traits that constantly are mentioned. I find that, though I can relate to some of these traits, these do not seem to match up with my personality entirely. I find that rigidness and inflexibility should not be implemented at all times, as ESTJs tend to do. I believe that it is fine to be relaxed and take a break once in a while, as working oneself too hard can cause more damage than good. To be flexible, but firm is what makes up a good leader. In regards to connecting an individual’s personality type to a career fit for them, it is important to consider the four traits and how they work together to find a career suited for that personality type.
