Responsibility can be learned in the classroom, by making sure assignments are due on time and doing homework, but the real skill of responsibility is found outside the classroom. College students in their first few years learn a lot about responsibility. Living on your own, in a new place away from your parents causes you to grow up quickly. Responsibility is learned through situations where you learn to be self-sufficient, because no one else will do your work for you. Higher education almost forces college students to get some responsibility for themselves because they are left alone. No one is there to take care of them, so they have to find some self-sufficiency. Responsibility can be shown when a class does not take attendance but you still show up every class because without it you would not learn anything.
