Have you ever watched a sports game, the time is running out, you’re by your closest friends, gathered around the television, hoping that whoever you’re cheering for can pull out the big win? The commentators are ecstatic with every single play, both sides of players and coaches calling out signals trying to give their respective teams the advantage to win the game, all for it to come down to a wild last play or throw up a game winning shot that puts the entire game on the line. Communication is key in sports, whether it is from the media side reporting to the fans, or in the game with verbal and nonverbal signals calling plays. As in football, the quarterback will get a play brought in from the sideline, then he’ll relay it to the other players within a span of 25 seconds, while also trying to line up and get the snap off. If there is any flaw in the communication and the play gets relayed wrongly, then the whole play could crumble within the team by each players having a different understanding of what play they’re running. The better a team is at communicating, it correlates into higher team success as they naturally flow better and operate at a much more efficient rate. Without the players’ ability to communicate well, the team would suffer and the fans would have nothing to cheer for. Both sides are codependent on each other, and even if the fans are unable to attend the games, media can help them still experience the game and show support for their team on social media.
