What is bullying? Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a perceived power imbalance. Bullying is repetitive and could go on until the victim seeks help. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically and verbally. Over 3.2 million are victims of bullying each year. This cruel act is common almost everywhere in the United States; it sabotages bright, young minds, and it must be averted. Bullying causes students to miss school, develop mental disorders, and commit suicide.
For instance, 160,000 kids stay home from school each day to avoid being bullied is not satisfactorily. Students not attending school can affect their grades dramatically because you can only benefit from school if you are actually there. When children, teens, and/or adults are not at school they tend to fall behind and miss out on valuable details and key points from teachers that they cannot get from makeup work. The students are more likely to fail their test if they are not attending class. The students that miss school most likely will need extra help to stay with the other students, but extra help is not always available. Students staying at home because of bullying should not be happening and needs to be prevented because students need to be present in class to get the full effect of the lesson. …show more content…

Bullying causes people to develop mental problems. One thing bullying can cause is depression. It makes people feel that they are less or not good enough. Bullying also causes increased feelings of sadness and loneliness. Depending on what type of bullying is going on, it could cause physical effects too. Minor physical encounters with bullies could result in bruises and scratches. Sometimes more drastic things can happen like broken limbs, health defects, and sometimes even death.
