For many years people have argued over technology. Some people say it is better for society, others would say it is not. Technology has become so advanced that college classes are now online and available from any computer. Is that beneficial to society? Online classes have started its own controversy. Many believe that online classes are going to allows students to ruin their education. Others believe that these classes take education to a whole new level. Classes that are online are an advancement, it allows the quiet to speak out, it works with people's schedule, and is also cheaper than face-to-face classes. The idea of online college is crazy. Many people have busy lives and going to college everyday or every other day can be a hassle. They have to change things around based off of their college schedules and may not even be allowed to get everything accomplished that they need to. "Students don't have to commute to class and can fit in course activities during their free time, either at home or at work" (Dervin 30). This means that students can now use their thirty minute lunch break to do some unfinished school work. If they live in the city and take a subway to work every day, they can easily do school work in the subway. College is not cheap and especially not in today's economy. Many people struggle with financial problems and do not even have the option to go to college. College makes you pay for so many "necessities" that is not needed in online college. For example on campus almost all students have to pay for tuition. Along with that there is housing, books, food, and so much more. Online classes will obviously make you pay for tuition and possibly books; but that is still not near as expensive as on campus college. "Because of low cost of delivery, such courses are often cheaper than traditional classes" (Dervin 30). This proves my point that online classes are most of the time cheaper. Students who go to face-to-face classes usually are still paying student loans years after they have already graduated.
