The Dark Side of Technology and Modernization Technology is influencing people for the worse because it is being used for the wrong reasons and is therefore causing people to be manipulated, confused, and taken advantage of. This idea is seen in literature, through Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and in today’s society, through “How Uber Uses Psychological Tricks to Push Its Drivers’ Buttons.” by Noam Scheiber. Fahrenheit 451 takes us to a futuristic society where books are illegal and technology is everything to the people.
