MS in Computer Science, University of Illinois
Being naturally intrigued about Computers, I pursued my undergraduate studies in Computer Science and Engineering at College of Engineering Trivandrum, University of Kerala, India. I intend to do my higher education in Computer Science and would like to get enrolled into the Masters Program at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign starting Fall ‘14.
My Interest in science started in early childhood. I was fascinated by the magic created by the new generation equipment called the computer. I was fortunate enough to get one for myself and that was the happiest day of my life. As I began exploring it, I learnt that programming is the best way to make computer do whatever you want.
I completed my schooling in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam, India. My school played a vital role in developing my interest in the field of science, right from the initial stages, by providing me opportunities to participate in different techno fests and science expos. I pursued my 12th grade CBSE Intermediate Board Exam securing 98% marks in Computer Science and 92% in Mathematics.
My interest in Computer Science grew way back in school days and I began to expand my skills in programming and development. My interest and passion towards Mathematics and Computer science, particularly programming, gained me an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering, in one of the most reputed colleges in India - College of Engineering Trivandrum.

An excellent exposure to Machine Learning and basics of Neural Networks in the past 4 years, has motivated me to continue my studies further at your university, as I believe it is the most resourceful department that caters to my interests. I look forward to a career in research under your tutelage, which will assist me in applying my academic knowledge to make noteworthy contributions in the field of my interest. Through diploma years I learnt, fundamentals of object oriented programming, web page designing, relational databases and understand the scope of information processing. I worked on a chat server project in which we developed a communication tool for isolated networks where existing web communication technologies, such as Jabber, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, etc, would not be feasible. Due to the same affinity towards Mathematics, Science and research in general, I have opted for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school (XII th standard), where I have scored the top marks with 91%. Being the top student in my secondary school (with 85.5%), I got admitted into Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at MIT, Ujjain. My curriculum enhanced my knowledge in Microprocessors, Digital Signal Processing, and Analytical and Industrial Instrumentation. Having a strong zeal towards Information System and Computer Programming, I have also learned different languages like C, C++, SQL and PL/SQL.
It is my extreme privilege that I have been given an opportunity to express about myself in my very own context. The very fortunate thing ever happened to me was that I had a very good early education which helped me a lot in the following time i.e., during and after my schooling. As I grew up also did my interests, at first Mathematics was the only topic which always dominated my interests but later on my interests made a shift on to the field of sciences mainly Physical Sciences with the introduction of many interesting topics in it. That was the time since which the inception of my interest in the field of sciences begun. Learning had become the key part of my life since then.
Growing up in the late 90’s, I witnessed computers revolutionize India – we had cellphones and personal computers and the internet transforming our lives - and like most other kids, I was fascinated by them. It wasn’t until I took course on QBasic in 8th grade, however, that I really took a liking to computer programming. The idea of computer ‘languages’ seemed almost magical to me. Over the years, that proclivity for programming grew into a passion and led me to take more programming electives in higher grades. I also took the initiative to set up a student-run Computer Club in my high school and host our first annual Computer Symposium. My upbringing in Delhi also made me aware of the gaping inequalities of wealth distribution in our society and as my interest in Computer Science deepened, it only reinforced my belief that lean-technologies can help governments of developing countries in bringing their policies to the altar of execution more efficiently.
I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.

My interest in Computers dates back to early days of my high school. The field of CS has always fascinated me. The reason for choosing CS stream was not a hasty decision. My interest started developing in the early stage of my life, when I studied about the invention of computers. The transformation from the large size to small palmtops enticed me to know about the factors responsible for making computers, also the electronic gadgets so small.

I am making an application to your school for a chance to earn an MBA in Information Systems Technology so that I can be an industrious team player in the nowadays business world.
